They spit on troops all the time |

Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 06:47 PM by Alpharetta
When they fabricated stories and mischaracterized Kerry's service on Swift boats in Vietnam, they were spitting on a vet.
When they belittled Max Cleland's loss of limbs during service of his country in Vietnam, when a despicable commentator said "he is lucky it happened in Vietnam", she was spitting on a vet.
When they make bandaids purple to denigrate Purple Heart medals, they're spitting on vets.
When they cut back on veteran's benefits, they're spitting on vets.
When they lie and say it'll be easy and end up sending troops for 3rd stays in Iraq with insufficient armor, they're spitting on troops.
So running over crosses representing US casualties in Iraq, that's nothing new. They spit on troops all the time.

the only 'good' Vet, is a dead one to some people. (Unless that person is a rabid, right wing radical, which is not very common) You put your finger on a BIG part of the problem- and showed me why some think as they do. It 'costs' money to truly 'support' the troops in the way they should be supported- With adequate equipment, decent pay, family support and rehab that is equal to the quality of care cheney gets on the government dime.
Sad, but you are so right with what you have pointed out.

They cut all benefits to veterans, no matter which war they were in!
My s/o is a Vietnam Vet and they cut his benefits for many months. Now we hear Reserve and Gusrd personel in Iraq will not qualify for VA benefits. Take a bullet but don't go to the VA for help. That seems to be the norm for this administration.
