Robert Reich just trashed two Foxites on Fox
they were arguning that the dems are in a bind because the economy is improving.

he said not even a jobless recovery, "job-loss" recovery

he trashed every piece of garbage they put forth and left them having to cut him off because they lost.

Hilarious!

2. Don't You Know...
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 06:23 AM by MarianJack
...that the economy is improving because the administration says so!

If you don't believe it, you're not only a traitor, but bush jr. will go to his ranch & hold his breath 'till he turns blue(or until laura or one of the girls brings him a beer), so there! :silly:

Isn't it nice to be led by an administration that makes us proud of the president and brings honor & integrity back to the white house? :puke:

Any D over any r in '04! :bounce:

4. He doesn't have to hold his breath to turn blue. . .
He just needs a bag of pretzels :).

I actually saw a freeper ecstatic the other day because the GDP was up. I still haven't figured out why that made him so happy, considering we're still shedding jobs (well over 100,000 last month).

5. It's refreshing to note that Reich
has finally decided to trash someone besides our last elected President.
I suppose I'm glad when anyone goes on Faux and administers a whipping but Reich will always be tarnished in my book for the way he treated Clinton.

6. I agreed with him
I thought he presented a sound leftist critique of Clinton's so-called "centrist" economics. The center isn't always right, especially when it's Right. And I don't think Clinton was god. I certainly read lots of critiques by Reich of Clinton's policies, but I don't recall encountering anything slimy or back-stabbing, such as what Stephenopolis turned to. I think he's been quite a force for trying to keep progressive policies alive in the DLC-dominated Dem party.

8. Reich was the SOLE proponent of progressive economics under Clinton
If you ever read anything he wrote on his experiences as Labor Secretary during Clinton's first term, he describes a battle for Clinton's ear between himself and Robert Rubin, the Treasury Secretary (and current Wall St. scumbag). Rubin advised Clinton to cater to Wall St. -- put their needs first and foremost -- in order to curry their favor. Reich advocated reversing many of the anti-worker policies of the Reagan and Bush I years.

In the end, Rubin won out on most issues. And yet, people still shake their heads in amazement when Clinton's economic policies are described as being more like a moderate Republican than populist Democrat.

7. We'll see just how good this economy is
starting the day after thanksgiving, and just how deep prices will be cut to save the christmas shopping.

9. Reich was absolutely correct in his criticism of Clinton's econ policies!
Clinton ended up listening to Robert Rubin on most economic policies -- a strategy of giving Wall St. what THEY wanted, in order to curry their favor. Based on his behavior in the Enron collapse, I personally think that Rubin has outed himself as a major league scumbag -- and the fact that he was Clinton's primary economic advisor is pretty telling.

The main debate within the first administration was between Rubin and Reich. Reich lost the debate, but personally I believe that his ideas were the more realistic ones. And I also refuse to participate in this blind worship at the altar of Clinton that so many seem to engage in here -- the guy was better than Reagan, Bush I or Bush II; but he was far from the Godsend that so many seem to portray him as.

10. Mr. Reich is a genuine individual.

I have met him a few times and he knows his stuff.

To say that he trashed two Foxites isn't a stretch of the imagination. The truth usually has that effect on the baseless.

11. Not only does he know his stuff, he knows how to deal with Foxites
I've seen clips of him on O'Really, where he was being interrupted and countered with something along the lines of, "Bill, do you think that I could be the first person allowed to finish a sentence on your show?"

He not only destroys their arguments, but he skillfully disarms their bullying tactics.

12. Reich was/is a good man
I think he was mis-cast as Labor Secretary, I thought he should have had a post where he could be more influencial in matters of monetary and fiscal policy. I do not fault him for being critical of Clinton. Clinton was good but could have been better in matters of the economy.

who is truly compassionate. I think he was one of Clinton's finer appointee's.

On edit, the following has a list of articles written by Reich. For those who are not familiar with his ideology, they are definitely worth perusing.
