Head off some problems at the future site for Camp Casey

I can see a few things coming down the road.

First, I imagine that somebody will put pressure on the insurer for the patriot and veteran who has made his land available for a new camp on private land. Rove will try to come up with anything possible to shut this down, because the new location really legitimizes the camp.

Does anyone know anything about how insurance works, and what might be done to get liability coverage for the camp?

Second, I believe this new move will lead to a massive influx of new people, bot Cindy supporters and, um, "others" (it's tempting to name call, but I just won't).

Lets hope the landowner understands what he is in for. I understand that there is someone with diplomatic experience advising as to how to deal with neighbors and their discontent at the situation. I hope that they're also able to forsee and fend off any possible future problems with the landowner, mainly because if anyone or anything "gets" to him, and he decides to pull his support, it could lead to a very tense situation.

Having said that, this new development is wonderful!

1. He would be liable for any trips and falls on his property

if someone chose to make a claim. I don't know if maybe insurance could be purchased specifically for/related to "Camp Casey" but its something to check into.

How about if a well-intentioned person, who would never otherwise think of suing anybody for any reason, were to somehow injure themselves badly on his land. Let's say they didn't have health insurance, and the hospital costs were outrageous...

I may be paranoid because I recently broke my foot simply walking into someone's house. The bills have been astronomical. I am lucky because I have health insurance, and of course will not sue. But if I didn't, and it were down to rent vs. medical bills... Lot's of people would think twice.

I just think we should protect him and thank him for his generosity by getting some kind of coverage for Camp Casey.

(And I promise I'm not an insurance saleswoman!) :P

That they are on his property at their own risk and assume personal responsiblity for any injury or property damage. That is actually a great idea.

There are large events of all kinds, all over the place. There must be an insurer to handle this to take the liability off of the generous man who is making this possible.

we're allowed to have huge family reunions, campouts, or whatever we please on our own land.

As long as the porta potties are kept clean, and no one stays long enough to be considered "living there" (check local ordinances about time frames and structural code) the D.C. dingleberries can't do squat.

That isn't the issue...its insurance coverage in case of accidents, etc.. I'd be shocked and surprised though if anyone supporting Cindy would make a claim even if they did get injured on his property..
I will not...won't... speak for Freepers though, however, they could be arrested for trespass!

However, if the land is not owned outright, there may be special clauses in the insurance policy that preclude this kind of gathering without notification.

If there's any chance of that, it's better to be proactive and get liability coverage for Camp Casey while the fundraising is so active.

Where to park
Where to camp
Must keep your area clean and help out when you can around the property
Entering property constitutes will not hold owner liable for events or occurances for the duration of the stay
No firearms allowed
No alcohol, drugs
No physical fighting
Those who do not abide by the simple rules will be asked to leave immediately.
Keep the peace
Show respect


Pretty simple...there are going to be a lot of people coming and going over the next couple of weeks. Sure hope it all works out that this is all who go (wish I were one of them!) can keep tot he focus and keep the support for Cindy going.

keyboard. Will everyone please just let the founders of the Peace House take care of this and follow their lead. They have many resources and friends that have been involved in Peace for a very LONG TIME! Everyone that has been involved with the Peace House since its founding are doing everything we can to take care of every issue. You all really have no idea of the tremendous people here in Texas standing behind Cindy right now and that is understandable. Give them all just a little space.

Relax. Please. I'm begging you guys!! All the help they need is for us to listen up and do what they ask us to do in these peace related issues, trust me please, it is being handled.

Sorry, short little impatient rant there.
