Hawaii Supports Camp Casey and Cindy Sheehan (Photos)
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 10:34 PM by tommcintyre
Location: In Honolulu, in the Moiliili neighborhood, in the little triangle park in front of of Star Mkt, across from Down to Earth Natural Foods. It's very close to the Japanese Cultural Center.

Plenty of people passing by to read the signs during rush hour

NPR reporter interviewing participants - Torii Gate (O-Torii) in the background (a gift from Hiroshima, Japan - the sister city of Honolulu)

14.  from one resident of O'ahu about CHeney

" he's a fun and cool guy and I told him to work harder so the Filipinos and Portagees will vote for the GOP".

Lots of freepers in Hawaii working for exactly the opposite of what we're working for.

Keep up the hard work! I was at the Bachman Hall SitIn and many of the rallies back in the 60s. Thanks for keeping that spirit alive.

Any sightings of Oliver Lee?

28. Too true
"Lots of freepers in Hawaii working for exactly the opposite of what we're working for."

Yea, a lot of conservatives (mostly churches) even turned us into a "swing state" for a while in the '04 election. Yikes!

Oliver Lee?

This is probably who you mean:

http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2005/Apr/25/op/op10pletters.html (search down the page, he's got a LTTE here)

Looks like he's still kickin' ;)

Take care, I'm off to the candle light vigil in upper-Kalihi soon. Hopefully, I will get more pictures.

18. The people of Hawaii are as kind as their hearts are big.
I would even go as far as saying the heart of just one Hawaian is bigger than the entire State of Texas. If you want to see a real Paradise on earth. Go to Hawaii. Not Gitmo or Iraq. The Hawians will actually greet you with flowers and parades. Oh yeah and they don't put lipstick on their pigs either. The bury them in a coal filled pit lined with banana leaves. They do know how to party!

25. This site
is about 50 yards from where I was when I first heard of 9/11. I was a grad student at UH and I had just come from Star market for some lunch. I was going to work on the lower campus on my moped when I came to the intersection of King and University and there was one of the newspaper salespeople with the headline "America Attacked". I still have it, probably the first paper in the US about 9/11 as they reprinted it after the first front page.

I love Hawaii and I salute all the people there in the protest. It is truly a special place (the protesters were probably more welcomed than not).
