Cancer Patient Losing Medicaid in MO
Just read in your column that for some reason we taxpayers can come
up with money to fix Seventh Street clear to Interstate 44 plus the
Four State Area. But for some reason we can't come up with funds for
medical aid.

Recently, I was told my Medicaid will be dropped Aug. 31. I'm a
cancer patient. Just one of my prescriptions is $300, and I'm on 11
different kinds of medicine. I have lung cancer and cancer in my
lymph nodes.

People like me - what are we going to do? I'm scared to death, I
don't want to die at the age of 56, and nobody else does. The
government is getting richer, and we're getting poorer.

4. But Sean Hannity said "No one will ever be denied medical treatment"
Perhaps not in your respective McMansion community, Innanity. But in the real United States, yes, people can and will be denied medical treatment.

10. Won't be denied, if they show up at an ER with a cut that
needs suturing..or if an ambulance brings them there aftre a traffic accident,...BUT

if you have a chronic illness , Good Luck..

Fortunately/Unfortunately more and more medicine is not provided by the kindly old Dr. Welby stereotype..but a pharmacist, hired by a corporation or a tech in a lab or phsyical therapy clinic. These people are trained to do their specialty, and they do it for their employer./.not the patient..

The Dr-Patient bond is all but gone.. We are "customers/clients", more than patients.

If you don't have the money you are screwed..and often the sickest people are too sick to vigorously advocate for treatment..

7. The only option this lady has is to move to a more compassionate
state that hasn't cut the Medicaid rolls yet.
She will have to leave her home, her family, her friends, et al to receive medical treatment.
It has been proven that ALL those things...along with medication...contribute to the well being and cure of cancer.
I hope there is a special place in hell that pours acid on open ass wounds every hour for these people who choose to make sick people suffer.
There are no words to describe their evil.

9. I don't know what is available in Joplin but in St. Louis the Peregrine
Society and the Miriam Foundation provide some limited assistance. She would probably be eligible for the direct line assistance from the drug companies. Needymeds.com is a good resource but here in Missouri there is apparently some fly in the ointment with the direct from company plans that they need to work out in the Missouri legislature. Its a bad scene man, wherever we go. Blunt makes me physically ill. The little bastid had 100,000 dollars to renovate his office. Let them eat cake Matt Antoinette.

11. This is just so very, very wrong
As a country, we seem to be able to come up with never ending expenses totaling billions of dollars to invade another country, and kill innocent men, women, and children. If some bonehead in Congress wanted a solid gold statue of the Chimp erected in every city in the country, politicians would immediately vote to fund the project.

We can spend to kill, but not to save lives. We see the right wing pretend to be moral, and better than us, because they want to decide that women have no control over whether they have children or not. They would prefer that we, or our loved ones die in anguish, rather than allow people to make life ending decisions if they are in intolerable pain, especially when they will die soon anyway.

We are too upright, too moral, to allow people who need it to grow, buy, or smoke marijuana. We spend countless billions more in the failed War on Drugs, something done by both parties.

To prevent gay marriage, our politicians will spend millions of tax-payer's dollars on legislating against allowing it. Private citizens will spend untold millions themselves. Save a cancer patient's life? Sorry, can't do, have to cut taxes, you know. True, we could raise Paris Hilton's taxes by a lot, and she'd never notice, but it's the principle of the thing.

She is rich, and the ones on Medicaid are not, and the current administration has made it crystal clear that they want more tax cuts, and more suffering; they want Paris, and the rest of the mega wealthy to have even more, even if they have to let every last one of us die to do it.

I truly hope we return to sanity as a nation, otherwise we will be depending on overseas charities to set up groups to help the poor of this country, just as they do now for other third world nations.
