PHOTO: President is in dainty form throwing out first pitch

AP - Tue Aug 16, 8:01 PM ET
President Bush throws out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals home opener in Washington in this April 14, 2005 file photo. Nestled among all of the assorted information distributed by the Washington Nationals PR staff about the club's record under certain circumstances _ 'scoring first,' say, or 'one-run games' _ is this nugget: 'With President Bush at RFK: 2-0.' How many sports teams keep track of that statistic? An unusual blend of sports, politics and inside-the-Beltway intrigue comes together as Major League Baseball prepares to sell the Nationals.

NOT a statistic I'd be particularly proud of, or with which I'd want to be associated.........

14. I wonder if he plays "Air Guitar?"
He does have a strong tendacy for dress-up. This photo is rich in all of his failings. I believe that a real cowboy would put a little mustard on that pitch.

13. Look at the arc on that pitch.
Did it bounce off the catchers head? Shrub has about a 45 degree angle on it.

17. Bush throws like a cheerleader
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 05:33 AM by SpiralHawk
Which I suppose is an elementary observation. The propaganda image of him as some kind of a Texas cowboy wildcatter baseball stud is all phony, made-up shit.

In fact, Bush is a blue-blood Connecticut Yankee preppy cheerleader. Check the record.

Deal with the truth --- not with Republican propaganda.

19. The Lean Mean "WAR pResident."
Somebody hold my hair up for me I'm gonna' :puke:

If bush had just gone to Vietnam he probably could have licked Charlie Cong single-handedly...(pun intended)

I'll bet Osama is shaking in his flip-flops looking at Bush's War Face.

23. this shows Bush's tremendous courage
so says Kathleen Parker...

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/kathleenparker/kp20011105.shtml

<snip>

So when Bush entered the field to toss a pitch - even though he knew he could, even though he'd warmed up - he put everything at risk. Every man in America watching, whether from the stands in the Bronx or the nubby-plaid couch in Poughkeepsie, knew what he was up against. On a primitive, unspoken level, Bush had put his manhood on the line. Before the nation, before CNN, before Islam and Osama himself. That, amigos, takes courage.

America held her breath and contracted her own muscles in sympathetic anticipation of certain failure. Could he do it? He did it. He did it perfectly. Bush knows how to wind up, how to aim, how to coordinate hand and eye, how to follow through, how to hit the target, how to accept victory with grace and humility.

George, you da man, and Osama wears a skirt.

We may be the best-fed, most technologically advanced, militarily powerful nation in the history of Earth, but we are still fundamentally animals guided in part by jungle instincts. A man who can throw a perfect pitch can probably throw a pretty good spear. We cheer the fearless leader who can bring home dinner or protect us from the enemy in the night.

Bush's symbolic act taught America a lesson about the man. He's brave, self-confident and humble.
