36 Years ago today - Hurricane Camille
The mother of all Hurricanes slammed into the Mississippi Coast:

- 200+ mile per hour winds
- 35 foot tidal waves
- 26.85 inch barometric pressure (all time low)
- 11 billion dollars damage (today's money)
- 131 Dead
- 41 persons never found

and the building was destroyed by the storm and people were washed away?

It was at a large apartment complex. Some of the residents chose not to heed the warnings and planned to have a hurricane party. The apartment complex was totally destroyed.

5. I remember watching a woman give an interview about that party
They got on the roof of a building and were going to party while the storm came ashore. It was something like a three story building and the water came over it.
That's how I remember it anyway. Its a long time ago.

This one put cracks in our water reservoir. We cooked with, flushed and drank our pool water for about 5 days.

4. I remember it well....
as a child it was my first exposure to the force of mother nature. Watching the film of a woman's reaction to looking for and finding her home demolished across the street from it's foundation was something I will never forget.
