This morning's update from Kay at the Peace House.
First Kay asked me to express her heartfelt appreciation for the tremendous outpouring of support everyone is giving, it has been overwhelming.

Good things are coming about in Crawford. The rancher has donated space, a church in downtown Crawford has opened their doors and more of the townspeople are being supportive.

She said they are asking everyone flying in to please try to rent vans and volunteer for shuttle service. They are also in need of people to help with traffic control around the Peace House and to give directions. Right to the west of the Peace House is a "Historical Marker", please do not park around it, pay attention to the barriers.

Friday is a big night in Crawford, it is the 1st football game of the season. There will be no parking for us at the stadium lot we have been using for obvious reasons. Alternate parking issue is still being resolved. Stay tuned. She asked for everyone to please be respectful and give the town plenty of respect and support for the "hometown" team. Football is "holy" in Texas, keep that in mind.

Keep checking the online community at www.crawfordpeacehouse.org and once again, thanks.

2. The hipppie protesters should try to wear the HS's team colors Friday.
And stay off the streets after the game. Getting really drunk and acting like an Asshat is "holy" in Texas, too.

4. Very good! Thanks for the update. Can we find out the team name
so we can all cheer 'em on Friday night ;)

The good folks of Crawford seem intent on showing their fine and nobel values. I would hope all of us on DU will see that and do likewise. These are basically good, caring, decent people, like people in your neighborhood, be that in the city or in a rural town. We are all pretty much alike and we ALL have to deal with a few neighbors who are, ahem, not of the best character.

Let's make a ruckus about how the good people of Crawford come through for peace, decency and the First Amendment! LTTE, calls into radio talk programs. Tell your contacts about them. The more people hear about good deeds being done, the more good deeds WILL get done!

Thank you, good citizens of Crawford! You have restored my faith in people. You have restored faith in the REAL American Values!

5. Crawford sounds like the nicest place!
I really think they're being very hospitable and are bearing up under the traffic and inconvenience with remarkable forbearance (committee meeting to the contrary).

13. GO CRAWFORD PIRATES
Now here is a little project, that the HS may or may not like... we could at DU donate some money for the team. Football equipment is not, I repeat, IS NOT cheap...

16. That might be a good idea
Give them the money since they probably need it. I'm sure their parents probably have to pay for all of their equipment instead of the school or something. I don't know. Wasn't in football. Heh heh. But maybe at the end of the month send the team coach some money for the team to use to show how you're thankful for all the hospitality from the town in general.

17. I just talked to Kay and she said better than donating to the football
team, if we really want to thank Crawford, what the city really needs are donations to fix up Tonkawa Falls Park. It needs lots of work, it is a beautiful park and funds are not there. One of the main buildings with restrooms has had to be closed.

Kay said if the City of Crawford started receiving donations specifying for repairs to Tonkawa Falls it would really "knock their socks off".

Kay said the it is a pretty good school district.

Kay should know she lives there.

19. Camp Casey is moving...
and Cindy said in a press conference that there would be PLENTY OF PARKING(so cool), so it doesn't seem like people will need to be in the city of Crawford anymore. I am sure the townsfolk will be happy. You know, these people should already be grateful, I am sure they are getting more business than they have in years.

I think that the Crawford Peace House should use some of the $90,000 to rent vans or charter buses and help shuttle people from the airports to camp casey. I have seen alot of people needing a ride. The expense of flying in is enough, it would be great if people could get a free ride from there.

23. Cindy needs a van too.
I just read this at the iconoclast...

"Camp Casey coordinator Ann Wright has issued an appeal. The van that has been used recently to accomodate media interviews is being called out of service and there is now an immediate need for a replacement. Anyone interested in loaning or providing such a van for use by Sheehan should call Wright at 808-741-1141. She explained that this need is somewhat urgent."

Shouldn't the Crawford Peace House come foward and provide this like...yesterday? It would be really great if Cindy had a camper van or even a motorhome so she could sleep in comfort as well.

also I found the number of a tent rental place in the waco yellow pages..for large tents, enough space to cook, get out of the rain, sun etc.
(1-800-245-8368) There should be several of these set up at the new camp casey.

If you build it they will come.

26. cool on the RV
glad to hear it.

Does anyone know why they decided not to use the 180 acres for parking? The guy took back his offer?? That would have been so helpful for the protesters, as well as the people in town.

here's the update from the iconoclast...
"Earlier reports were of a donation of 212 acres across from the new campsite to be used for parking. That offer has changed and campers will be restricted to the one acre; however, a very large tent will be erected to provide the shade that this new site doesn’t offer. Also, Wright explains, “We are bringing in trailers to help with interviews and so forth. There will be bathroom facilities and cooking facilities as well.”"
