A Friendly Request Of The ANTI-SHEEHAN Protesters Around The Country.

Given the events of the past few days, I would like you to make a personal request of the supporters of this war. Especially those that will be joining us in Crawford and at other related protests around the country.

Please be civil.

Please do not try to intimidate or harass peaceful protesters.

The protesters at Camp Casey are well within legal rights to be there having their say. You are as well.

We want to hear what you have to say on the subject and we are pleased that a dialog has begun in Crawford that is spreading. It was long overdue.

Acts of frustration and intimidation like we have seen in recent days do little to resolve the debate we seek to engage in.

Come in peace and the world can weigh our arguments. Do not make yourselves out to be unreasonable. Most Americans can have a reasonable debate on this issue.

Please be civil and encourage those around you to do the same.

We are and will continue to do so.



I beg you to take my advice here. If for no other reason than it is in your own best interests.

The Larry Northern's of this world, are clearly filled with hate and anger. Hate for us. Hate for the things that we believe in. I do not claim he hates America. I suspect he loves it just as much as we do. Sadly, people that lash out like this are not safe. Please channel any frustration you may be feeling into an appropriate dialog.

What's more, that kind of hate and frustration will not be flattering for your side as the news cameras catch more and more of this GROWING event.

Just offering some friendly advice.

Reject the analogy to Rosa Parks if you would like. But, if you are smart political tacticians, you will think back on those shots of civil rights protesters being hosed down and attacked by police dogs and urge restraint all day and night.

Those pictures so enraged the nation, that the generations old segregation wall was destroyed over night. If you allow the bus loads that come to counter the peaceful protesters at Camp Casey to let their frustration get the better of them, it is YOU who will look like the folks with the hoses and dogs.
The war in Iraq is far from over. This is the first real "battle" (not to sound like I want conflict) to end it. But, the line is now drawn right down the middle of Crawford Texas.

Please remember that as you come out to express your views and do so in a peaceful and non-threatening manner. It is better for all involved and it is better for the country.

Just How Much "Not Blaming The Troops" Is TOO MUCH Not Blaming Them?

I fully believe that our troops are in a terrible situation. I also believe that many get immoral orders from their commanders.

But, I am really starting to wonder what the hell is up with troops themselves. Why are they so regularly killing innocents. Why do they not refuse immoral and illegal orders?

I know after Vietnam everyone is leary of blaming the troops. But, lets face it folks. Someone is pulling the damn trigger. Someone is torturing our detainees.

Does anyone know (besides the Abu Ghraib 8) what individuals have been held accountable for illegal actions in this war?

I am beginning to think that we may be cutting some of these folks TOO MUCH SLACK.

Do not get me wrong, I do not advocate spitting on returning troops and calling them baby killers in the absence of info on each soldier's actions.

But, who among us can sit here knowing about the torture of detainees and widespread death and destruction that has befallen many innocent Iraqis and not want to see some court martials and jail time for those that are out of line?

As you can see I have never advocated spitting on anyone or calling them baby killers in the absense of any proof of such an act. This is merely a smear meant to discredit me and those of us from WWW.ENDTHEABUSES.ORG that are joining Cindy Sheehan in support this coming weekend. It is more of the same sad lies we know makes up the body of Republican political tactics.

The organization and I look forward to meeting with Cindy with a message of support.

We also come bearing a demand for George Bush that he stop ordering our soldiers to engage in the types of detention practices that resulted the abuses we have seen in Iraq and elsewhere.

Your words come at just the right time; we MUST measure our own responses to these adolescent reactionary dum-dums, in the interest of the larger cause. Yes, we have suffered long and patiently; yes, we have every right to be near the breaking point after nearly 5 years of the worst administration this country has ever seen, bar none... and a trail of damage and destruction unlike ANYTHING in the history of our country.

But PLEASE remember that we are approaching a crossroads here, and the first real chance to turn things around since everything went so horribly awry in the sad winter of 2000. We have survived this long, and not for nothing; even I am capable of this sort of self-control (and if you've seen my website, you know that I'm not exactly the voice of moderation when it comes to political debate)...

But I am also capable of thinking as a tactician when the need is dire... and while WE are capable of moderation and peaceful exchange of ideas, our enemies have no such capacity... let us stand strong, together, shoulder to shoulder, and happily give them the rope they so desperately desire... then we can all sit back and watch them lynch THEMSELVES for a change.
