Davis take the battle to Arnold.! A California perspective.
It seems to me that this is quickly becoming a race between Davis and Arnold.

Bustamante has run a very lackluster campaign to begin with (his stump speech is incredibly monotone) I actually wonder if it is intentional so as not to be perceieved as wanting the office more than he wants the recall defeated.

Davis seems to be picking a fight with Arnold and Arnold is taking the bait by refusing to not engage Davis. It looks like Arnold is ducking the issues and does not want his competence to lead to become an issue.

By framing this as Arnold or Gray.. The Davis camp is trying to enflame the base and actually pull in some conservative voters who are more concerned about governence than they are about winning by putting a moron into office.

So my question is: what happens is Cruz quits the race at this point?

1. just checked out the LA Times page
and they think Davis' strategy of "attacking" Arnold's qualifications to be Governor will "backfire". Of course the press is treating Arnold like he already has won.

I agree with your assessment of Bustamante--he has run a lackluster campaign and isn't even doing all that well with Latinos. Yesterday he was the only major candidate according to ABC News the NOTE who had no campaign activities scheduled--only a week before an election!!

2. Cruz won't quit.
His campaign sucks, but he knows he has a significant percentage of the "No" on the recall voters. Even if Davis can't be saved, he still has an excellect shot of succeeding him at 35 to 40% of the vote.

4. I'm confused as hell about something on that Gallup poll
I don't have the stats in front of me but an approximation------supposedly about 63% now want recall and about 39% don't. On the other hand they say Arnold has 40% of the vote and Cruz 25%, etc. Well, it seems to me that the 39% who don't want a recall are not about to vote "no" and then select Arnold....wouldn't one think that a good share of that 39% would be for Cruz and maybe a few for Ariana??--and Ariana might quit according to news this a.m. I sure as hell would like to see other polls on this. These son of a bitches are using this trumped up poll to convince CA that it's over and they might as well join the bandwagon and vote for Arnold. A preview of election '04 when in the last weeks, Bush magically surges ahead 75% to 3%, don't ya' know.

7. Yeah That is whar makes the poll suspect.
Those numbers suggest that those who are going to stick it out with Gray are going to vote for Arnold and others on the second questionb....That defies logic.

I have long suggested that Cruz would win the recall in a walk because 90$ of the pro-davis vote will vote from hin on Question #2 (.90 x 40% = 36%) and the fact that there are too many republicans in the race to have anyone with more than 35% of the vote.

I honestly think that one of the worst thing the GOP could do is force McClintock out. If that happens the right wirng will stay at home in droves. Swarzenegger could still win the second question....but it won't matter because Davis will win the 1st question. Ya gotta get the conservative base out there to recall Davis in my view.

5. now that is interesting
that, according to Gallup, 35% a pretty solid minority will vote against the recall yet only 25% will vote for Cruz--does this indicate that a good percentage of those who voted NO will not even bother to vote on the second ballot or are spreading their votes out between Cruz, Arianna, and Camejo?

3. Davis should air more ads saying that Ahhhnold is ducking the debates
and show that the Gropinator is, in fact, a puppet for GOP and endangering California even more. Davis should also point out what Ahhhnold has said so far in his "campaign" and debunk them. Davis should have NO problem doing that. Ahhhnold said "open the books" for auditing - Davis has already done that numerous of times (I believe). This is just one example. He should aggressively place Ahhhnold in a very negative light because Ahhhnold can't think quickly on his feet and, thus, embarrassing the state of California if he's elected as Gropinator.

I also suggest an immediate reprisal in recall terms for Ahhhnold so he doesn't last three months (at least until the Dem primaries) so Davis will be reinstated as the Governor of California.

6. Actually.
If McClintock wants to lock up the Conservative base for the next Gubernatorial election He ought to go on the offensive against Arnold as well.

Call him a liberal masquerading as a republican and unfit for office.

8. Davis needs to focus on how desperate the "party" is
That they would throw McClintock to the wolves to grab the movie star's coattails.. here's what I would like to see Davis say:

Tom Mc Clintock is a true republican, and I do not agree with his philosopy on governance, BUT...he is honest in his beliefs... His own party is so eager to finish what Enron started, that they are willing to throw him in the ditch, by supporting the "movie star candidate" who believes the OPPOSITE of what their party stands for..

He is pro choice
He admits to steroid & other drug use
He admitted to casual and dangerous sexual behavior
He has shown himself to be callous towards women
He admitted to fraqudulent business practices..

He refused to debate , unless he had the questions in advance..

Ask Arnold why HE, a private citizen movie star, was invited to a meeting with Ken Lay (ENRON) and other Bush admin people in MARCH 2001

Why would he be involved in California's energy policy???
Why was a recall movement started within days of the legitimate election in Nov 2002??

Why would you risk California's coastline, eco systems, and energy future to someone who won't know what policies he favors, until he gets the white house fax??
