OK, I've had enough of Florida bashing
1- I don't support GWB, GHWB, the Repubs., the mouthbreathers, the ignorant, the stupid, the RW, etc.... Take your pick.

2- Some of us here ACTUALLY HAVE A BRAIN and an education, and use them regularly.

3- EVERY state has problems.

4- EVERY state has ignoramuses.

5- SOME of us here don't like our government and are trying to do something about it. It really isn't OUR fault, we are extremely outnumbered by the ANTI-TAXES crowd.

6- One of Florida's main problems is the fact that NO ONE likes taxes, and MANY MANY people in Florida move here to avoid taxes and REALLY REALLY HATE TAXES. Guess what ? Those folks vote Repub.

7- Florida has no state income tax.

8- Florida has a legacy of being the vacation destination for the world, and as such that industry doesn't require vast amounts of talent or education.

I could go on and on. Quit bashing Florida for a while, please.

3. As a New Englander who lives here, I agree with you as far as
the liberals who live here...they are fiesty fighters. But Florida scres the shit out of me and I am planning to move back to NH or MA by April. I've been here 3 years and do not feel good about being here. Wish I could because the weather rocks.

4. Don't percieve it as basing Floridians.....
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 01:54 PM by KzooDem
I know there are a great many fine, upstanding, intelligent Floridians, a category within which I'm confident you also fall.
Perhaps you're too close to the situation to see it, but for those of us outside of Florida, it is a textbook example of, well...a place that has some serious drawbacks on any number of levels.

I personally can't STAND Florida, but I know several wonderful people who live there. When people "bash" Florida, I think they are focusing on the negative things about Florida, not about some of the fine people who live there.

6. You could probably put "Ohio" in place of "Florida" here . . .
and it would be the same sentiment.

Except that we have a state income tax (a mighty exorbitant one) . . .

. . . and a dumber governor than JEB, if that's at all possible . . .

. . . and we have Uncle Thomas Blackwell . . .

. . . and that Ohio is hardly a vacation destination . . .

. . . and the weather is absolutely shitty nine months out of the year, and rainy on weekends in the summer . . .

Muddah, Fadduh, kindly disregard this lettah!

:silly:

8. at least your Gov just has an udder for a chin, instead of putting
lipstick on his nipples.
It's California that gets the cons' blood boiling: art, hippies, large cities, "fruits and nuts."

14. Well, sorry, but here's my take on Florida
It's too hot, it's got damn big bugs, it's got hurricanes, and lots of wacky people live there.
Give me a big city in a semi temperate climate anytime, where I don't have to worry about palmetto bugs, gators, bats, and assorted other critters.
