What THIS country really needs : |
|
RE-Regulation...real regulation of:
energy...gasoline, heating oil, electricity..natural gas
banking...
air transportation
elections...national office elections should have STANDARDIZED PAPER ballots ..the same in all states..counted on the same equipment..
Those would be a good start toward curing the things that ail us..
Privatization of crucial services is an INSANE idea..

4. I said it before, I'll say it again |

My first official action after being elected King of the World will be to abolish corporations. You want to own shares of a company? Fine. But you are fucking personally responsible for the actions of that company. Corporations are a legal fiction devised to protect profit and limit liability. Fuck that shit!

5. Doesn't matter what you are if you believe this you are right! |

It's an issue that the Dems (if they had sense enough) could make their biggest wedge issue. After years of de-regulation, the facts speak for themselves...nothing is better...no one is better served except the corporate whores and stock holders of the de-regulated utilities.

6. you reminded me of a discussion |
|
i had with my 21yr old son the other night.
Here in NH we have 'rules' that say every body of water HAS to have 'public access'- in other words, all our lakes have to have accessibility to the 'average' citizen, because no one owns the lake-
And, on the tiny shoreline that is NH, we have public access even on beachfront homes, up to the 'high-tide' mark for the same reasoning.
My son said, all the 'oil' reserves that are in the US should go to the nation as a 'whole' and not to any private company- because the 'oil' isn't the property of a 'land owner'- or a 'company' any more than the waterfront is, or the top of Mt. Washington or the air we breath.
He pointed out, that if we imposed that rule, many petro companies would be pissed off, but we could do many GOOD things with the money, and it would encourage everyone to conserve, and seek out renewable sources of energy.- i think it's a great idea- but it would never fly- because money is power, and the powerful have the money and intend to keep it.
Why do we have public schools, but not public health? Why do we have a public military but allow corporations to pay mercernaries 10 times what we pay our soldiers, and provide them with equipment that our own troops are lacking, - after all, who is paying halliburton except us, including the very troops who are being stiffed???
nothing makes any sense anymore- maybe nothing ever did- i just refused to see the truth
