What would they do if Bush went off the deep end? |
|
What would the RW'ers do/say if Bush started babbling like a lunatic, wore a tin foil hat, screamed "On Osama, On Saddam, On Karl" every 15 minutes, and said that the ghosts of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan are constantly mocking him?
A. Say that carting him off to the loony bin is a good idea
B. Let Cheney take his place
C. Say "You Liberals better not do nothin'! He's speakin' the words of Jaysus!"

12. He might just be telling the truth |
|
He rose to power on Osama, Saddam and Karl, though he's leaving out the lesser beings on the supreme court (but who can expect him to recall 5 more names) And while Nixon and Reagan were poor leaders, bush almost makes you miss them. If there is an afterlife, even if they didn't get wiser there, they just might constantly be mocking and scolding him for giving even bad presidents a bad name.
Perhaps it would be the inspiration of Jesus who did promote honesty.

13. Read "Night of Camp David" by Fletcher Knebel |
|
It's a bit dated but an interesting read about a fictitious president becoming mentally incapacitated.

20. Here's what would happen. |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-17-05 08:27 PM by Arkana
i) He'd be carted away to Dick Cheney's hidey-hole. Can't have him blabbing if he's gonna flip his wig.
ii) When people begin to ask where the President is, the RW attack machine will go into full-on assault mode. Here are some of the talking points:
1) "I don't understand. I mean, the President is allowed to take vacations, right? And he's allowed his right to privacy! So what if the public doesn't know where he is? They can't bother him this way!"
2) "I don't think the issue here is about the country being run by someone who's not sane. I think the issue is liberal phobia of insane people."
3) "Clearly God is speaking to us through President Bush. I mean, all great religious figures in history have spoken in tongues when God has spoken through them, right? So why should this time be different?"
iii) Eventually, Bush would "commit suicide" in Cheney's hidey-hole, and Darth Cheney would assume the Oval Office quietly.

22. He would "confess" that the mental stress of being a war president |
|
in the wake of 9/11 ("it's hard work") has caused him to become an abuser of prescription drugs. He would then announce his plans to immediately go clean and sober with professional help.
Immediately, the right wing would descend upon him with compassion and support. "Given how difficult a job he's had as president, holding out against all this terrible criticism from the left to do what he believes to be right, often standing alone, it's not a surprise that he has had a weak moment. We still believe in him and that he is the best man to run this country in a time of crisis."
Rush Limbaugh would immediately say that he can identify with the situation and that "he is no more weak or a criminal than I am. He's just a human being trying to do a near-impossible job while fighting against an endless tide of criticism from the ungrateful. No one can blame him for finally having found it all to be a bit much. I lay all the blame for this at the feet of his critics. YOU drove him to this. Your relentless beating on the man caused him to cave. Our president has a terrible drug habit to struggle with now, and it's all YOUR FAULT because you would not just shut up and let him do his job."
