Zogby poll...Let's discuss |
|
quote.... Are you aware that a part of the "No Child Left Behind" education act of 2001 requires secondary schools that receive federal money, to release personal information about their students to military recruiters?
Are you aware that the Pentagon is creating a database that will contain names, contact information, and other personal details about approximately 30 million 16-25 year olds for military recruiting purposes? Of both parties, & socioeconomic levels?
Some have suggested that two years mandatory military service in the armed forces should be required of all American citizens upon graduation from high school. Do you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree with requiring mandatory military service…I have no problem with 2 year national service as a requirement after HS
Deport people who foster hatred or advocate or justify violence. (Can we deport the entire administration?)
Currently, Mount Rushmore depicts the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. If it was decided that a fifth face was to be added, which president would you most want to see added? (I said FDR)

Ended up deciding that free speech is more important than safety, so we should not deport people who advocate hate, and that since the founding fathers had a low opinion of standing armies, they'd have been loathe to require all Americans to serve in one for any length of time.

5. We all know that any such policy would be implemented by republicans |
|
And they would make sure it didn't apply to them anyway.
I strongly opposed the idea. I shudder to imagine what type of ideological cleansing something that would lead to.

2. A 2 year system would reflect what many other countries do |
|
There is an option however, in Austria for example for the service to be socially related (interior or foreign.) This would be a positive thing.
2 years manditory service sounds fine...hell I've already done my time in the Peace Corps...but I've been told what a horrible soldier I would make. I ask too many questions and am neither a follower nor a leader. I prefer independance and self-reliance.
Such an option to serve in Americorps for 2 years...or even the worthless 'Freedom Corps' (What a freeper name) might be a great option.
Perhaps being able to delay one's manditory service until post college or even after a few years of work experience might be a good thing as well for both specialist in the military or the Peace Corps.
In general I think it is a good idea...as long as everyone is not forced to serve thier nation in the same way.
Patriotism comes in a lot more colors and patterns than Army Green Camo.

6. It was hanging up while I was trying to complete it |
|
It would show one of those white screens and all I had to do was hit the back arrow and it would take me to the previous screen where it would then work okay.

9. Clinton On Mt. Rushmore...Rename It Mt. Clennis |
|
I voted for that just since I'm sure there was some goon out there that would vote for Raygun or meeester boooosh.
An interesting poll...looked like it was trying to focus on now ineffective this regime's financial and foreign policies are failing. Kinda like the "before" picture.
I'll be interested in seeing the results.
