Why does anybody complain about what's going on; myself included? |
|
We can't do jack shit about anything.
I choose to stop and smell the roses before the summer ends.
I'm tired of the anxiety and the fear, which only serves to destroy my soul.
We are not in power. We cannot change anything. We know things are about to get worse. And we cannot change anything. So what is the point? Anger does nobody any good.
We can hold up every picket sign we choose. But without reading the mindset of the people we may as well speak as a toddler would. (looking at the corporate world, the government worker by comparison has it damn good. And yet they will go on strike too talking about how bad THEY have it. "Get real" is all I've got to say. THEY have it far better. (pity they won't do more to speak up of the politicians who give themselves big fat raises and bennies all the time while supporting the highest corporate dollar instead of the people; using "the people" only for wedge issues that the politicians know are likely to vote the way THEY want. This is democracy?!
We can sign every petititon we want for what that will do, but there is nothing else we truly can do.
We can cajole people into donating money for our causes. Even the HRC won't STFU when they start badgering the jobless; even after the folks they harass SAY they are jobless. Even I know there comes a time when that $35 you'd otherwise donate needs to remain in your pocket so you can get a week's worth of food to fill your own face.
Except enjoy life while we can. We all see the brick wall with the lead lining. We're on a collision course and there truly is nothing we can do. So admire the scenery. We're going to hit the wall whether we like it or not. So why worry yourself to death when death is inevitable?

2. You just need a little encouragement... |
|
Perhaps you should go see that motivational speaker who LIVES IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!
It's not often I find someone who embraces defeatism and then writes a persuasion piece on it...
Take a break and go offline for awhile, then come back refreshed and ready to fight.

3. that is what cindy said. one person cant do anything, hm...... |
|
i hear this a lot. a collective we cant do anything, nothing will be done and bushco's are especially looking forward to that. i have seen a lot accomplished against the odds of where our not doing anything has caused a lot of obsticles, like a press that doesnt report news and a government in total corruption. we have our poor our working poor strugglin to feed their children. my brother is one, and he says we cant do anything. though i am comfortable, i will be his voice if he has so little faith.
i disagree with you we cant do anything
and i am still able to smell my roses going all down my pathway, or play with the children and delight in their laughter, or play with hubby. this home is lite. and that is where it begins. it extends out. kindness to a stranger, a conversation with the lonely. i can do a lot

5. Don't despair, organize! |
|
Perhaps you need to get off DU and find some honest to goodness local activists who are trying to rebuild the grassroots in your area. they are out there. true grassroots organizing, rebuilding a Dem community at the local level, is the way that we can take our country back.
Sometimes I think there are way too many people on DU who just post and bitch, and that's all, and it's infectious and causes despair. You CAN take your country back, but you have to ORGANIZE LOCALLY in order to do it.
