Question for fellow caucasians.
Are there any racial epithets that insult you? You don't have to list them,I just can't think of any that have any bite to me. The Indians I grew up with would call us moony asses, but it was funny.

1. Oddly, I was mulling this over today.
I came up with nuttin' honey.
Honkie, round-eye, even going back a few generations to bog-trotter, nothing has any teeth.

6. I hate being labelled a redneck,just because I live with a bunch
I was raised without any regard to color. My parents(even my ex-republican dad)were always very careful to stress character.I never even heard a racial epithet until i moved here(Texas),as I grew up on military bases all my childhood.

4. Thick hide
I was born in Oklahoma so I get called an okie alot. I live in California and consider myself progressive. Being called an okie doesn't bother me one bit. I don't know why people get so offended by the stupidest things. I think people have become way too sensitive. We used to be able to joke about things but not anymore. Oh Well!

8. Okie - haven't heard that for awhile. My father is an Okie from
Muskogee. I grew up in Kansas but lived in Oklahoma for 14 years as an adult. In fact, I have a framed certificate from Gov. Bartlett making me an official OKIE.

You know the old joke (think it was Will Rogers) - When the Okies moved from Oklahoma to California it raised the IQ levels of both states.

11. It's not the words

it's when they are coupled with the harsh realities and become symbolic of them.

Words used against those with (relative) power or immunity are weak but are bitter reminders to the powerless.

7. The dominant group,
the majority, don't feel put down by racial insults.

Because they ARE the majority, and have all the power and all the say.

Being a minority would reveal a whole new world to them.

12. all racial epithets insult me
and my sisters and brothers of the world.
but realizing they are but words and the last vestiges of a dying culture of hate, i just let it roll off of me.

if that's all that they have left, then we are winning.

13. Not the epithets but the context occasionally.
Depends on the situation. (by the way there are many locals in the US where Caucasions are the minority)

14. Go Doers, Inc.
I'm trying to find out about this org. I've been so busy lately and now tired this evening ... wish I could have heard Sy on TDS ... he's usually pretty truthful and isn't that what Americans are looking for, ultimately. We all know that Junior is a puppet. Many of us have followed PNAC. I would appreciate any info regarding Go Doers, Inc. Sorry, just extremely tired tonight ... looking for any info re Go Doers, Inc. BTW ... I wrote a check to Go Doers, Inc. Info anyone??

17. Growing up in Miami, "Cracker" was used by blacks...
...in the same derogatory context as if a white person said "nigger."

21. Yeah, "cracker" wasn't nice -- but whites said it about whites as
much as blacks did. How about "ghost"? I've heard that a couple of times, and all I could think was, yeah, OK, I'm white, is that supposed to be an insult?

FL "crackers" is not a racial slur.

35. Please re-read my post, I was talking about context.
When a black person calls a white person "cracker" it is very clearly in the same context as a white person calling a black person "nigger." Maybe not everywhere...but like I said, in Miami this was the case.

And very similarly, the context of the word "nigger" when used between blacks is not considered a racial slur.

19. Well, sheesh, Swede . . .
.
Well, sheesh, Swede . . . the white male is the standard. The model for all else.

As such it is supreme, period. Hence, any deviation -- no matter how slight -- gets the slings and arrows. Be it "redneck," "cracker," "white trash," or any other deviation from the "norm" of perfect white male. Hell. And that's only for whites. Then there's more derogatory slurs for non-whites . . . Note, too, the word "non-whites" due to white again being the standard to which all else is compared.

That's racism in America.

22. I'm not a big fan of "cracker", but it's definitely contextual.
The word alone means nothing to me, but when said with the intention to hurt, threaten, frighten, demean, or whatever then I am bothered.

"Honkey" just makes me laugh, no matter the context...

23. I'm a mutt
Mostly Celt and Native American, as far as I know...

And a bastard to boot.

Insulting my race is just pointless...what race would you insult? And how would you know?

So I'd have to say no.
