How Bout This for a DU project?? Big Impact??
Let's make a list of all of our elected representatives in Congress who have children of draft age, and simply state if any of their children are serving or have served in the military. If we each report on our own, it should not be that difficult.

We could expand the list to all Bush appointed Federal Officials who have children of draft age.

What do you want to bet once the list is published the public would be absolutely outraged to see how few are serving or have served.

Just an idea.

3. Outrage? At what they already assume ot be true?
It would be telling, I agree. But before going to all that trouble, poll 25 people at random and ask them to guess what percentage of elected officials have children who are serving or did serve in the military. My point is that even the avg American has figured out that most politicians don't serve in the military anymore, nor do their children.

4. Assumptions and a Verfied List are quite different
Most people assume Congress wastes tax money every year on porkbarrell projects, but it sure is surprising to hear how much and on what worthless projects their tax money is spent on.

I think a comprehensive list could be a good object lesson.

What are the warhawk neo-cons going to say when confronted with the list? If they deny it, they will have name children who are serving, and I doubt there are any either. They will make our case for us.

How hard will it be to compile such a list?

7. Here's the list of Congressmen that have children serving in Iraq.
Rep. Joe Wilson R-SC
Sen. Kit Bond R-MO
Rep. Todd Akin R-MO
Rep. Duncan Hunter R-CA
Sen. Tim Johnson D-SD

This is based on info from an article at
http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/9622

Note that it lists only those with kids serving in Iraq. Sen. Biden has a son in the DE National Guard. There may be others with kids in the service that aren't in Iraq but hey, at least it's a start.
