Ohio Republicans weigh in on Gov. Taft
"We have to let the process play out. Governor Taft, like anyone else, deserves his day in court."

- Hamilton County Commissioner Pat DeWine

"The news today from Columbus is very unfortunate for the state of Ohio and the Taft family. I have known Governor Taft for 30 years, and I have always known him to be an honest and honorable man."

- U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt, Miami Township

"Obviously, this should not have happened, but I will say that the governor is probably one of the most honest and ethical persons I know."
- Butler County Republican Chairman Carlos Todd

"These are not offenses that lead to impeachment or resignation."

- Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Bennett

"I am deeply disappointed that the governor has been charged with a crime. I'm particularly saddened because personal integrity has been a hallmark of the Taft family and of Bob Taft's career in public service."

State Auditor Betty Montgomery

"It's unfortunate, but we believe the governor to be an honest man."

- Brad Greenberg, executive director of the Hamilton County Republican Party
