Pat Tillman Foundation
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 02:23 PM by ls317
Dear Friends,

NFL Hall of Fame player Ronnie Lott will be on the Nationally Syndicated Jim Rome Show today at 11:15 a.m. Pacific Time to announce a new effort to help the Pat Tillman Foundation expand its Leadership Through Action program. Visit Rome's website at www.jimrome.com to find an affiliate near you.

Ronnie will introduce Team Tillman, a group of professional athletes and coaches who are pledging donations for their on-field accomplishments. As Team Tillman's general manager, Ronnie will seek new franchise players and coaches to participate. So far, he has established a great list of well-known participants including:

* Jake Plummer (QB, Broncos, $1000 per TD)
* Derek Smith (LB, '49ers, $100 per tackle)
* Scott Player (Punter, Cardinals, $100 per punt inside the 20)
* Dave McGinnis (Linebacker Coach, Titans, $100 per turnover)
* Larry Marmie, (Defensive coordinator, Rams, $100 per turnover)

Tiki Barber of the New York Giants and Mike Ricci of the Phoenix Coyotes NHL team will also participate in the 2005-06 season.

You don't have to be a professional athlete to be part of Team Tillman. We are inviting everyone to pick their favorite Team Tillman athletes and pledge for their accomplishments. We hope to span all professional sports, so keep checking our Web site for updates to our roster.

Through the connections built during program sessions between today’s leaders and the leaders of our future, Leadership Through Action™ will promote the creation of a strong network of social leaders. These connections will accelerate the rate of positive change while furthering the effectiveness of each student-led initiative.

The most viable projects will be funded by the Pat Tillman Foundation directly or through financial support from the Foundation's network of philanthropic supporters.

We believe that the concept of Leadership Through Action™ is a true reflection of how Pat lived his life. The Leadership Through Action™ program:

Inspires understanding of personal convictions and passion
Promotes awareness and understanding of a broad range of social issues
Equips with the skills essential to leading positive change
Connects students with community and business leaders to build lasting networks
Provides financial backing necessary to establish sustainable initiatives

3. Perhaps the Pentagon will donate one million dollars for the
biggest lie of the year about Pat Tillman who was was killed by his own troops and not trying to save his buddies as claimed by the government.

8. That's not entirely true

His dad was quoted several times last spring when the Army finally owned up, or came close to owning up, to the fact they lied about it. His dad was pretty mad and wondered how many other families have been lied to like his was.

6. I have nothing against Pat Tillman
but perusing the website of the Pat Tillman Foundation, and puzzling over wtf "Leadership through action" means, it finally looks like just so much jibber-jabber.

7. Details
Pat Tillman Foundation and ASU Form Partnership for Leadership Through Action™

The Pat Tillman Foundation announced today that it will partner with Tillman's alma mater, Arizona State University, to create a Leadership Through Action™ program at the university's W.P. Carey School of Business.

The two-semester program is a major component of the foundation's mission of creating responsible, ethical, action-oriented leaders, said foundation executive director Alex Garwood, who is also Tillman's brother-in-law. Starting this fall semester, the foundation-ASU partnership will expand an existing leadership class offered at the Tempe, Ariz., campus. Foundation involvement includes recruiting community and business leaders to serve as guest lecturers and mentors, and providing financial support such as seed money for students to help turn community-oriented project ideas into reality.

Students will participate in a collaborative setting with faculty and invited leaders to study leadership techniques, develop leadership skills and apply their learning to create projects that will benefit their selected communities.

Once Leadership Through Action™ is established at ASU, the foundation will host a Leadership Conference that will share the program details with other leaders from across the country. The foundation and ASU will work together to endow the program so it can continue in perpetuity. Also, the partnership will support outstanding faculty members through the creation of Pat Tillman Professorships.

10. Making a difference...
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 02:38 PM by ls317
Its about opening doors for those that dont have a silver spoons in their lives.
Where you can stand for change and make a real difference in your community on the highest level you can...
Such as adding a playground for inner city kids... domestic violence shelter funding issues.... Helping by building or funding food banks for the needy....
