Movement of WMD without CIA tracking
I am very concerned that our security monitoring has been breached. While I am sure that the network around the world ,that is part of what Mr.Wilson's wife was central to is still in place (hopefuly), I am concerned for their safety.
BUT I am very worried that the center of this network ,or hub, Mrs.Wilson is no longer able to help monitor the movements of WMD components. Who would that benefit? Well the terrorists could recognize that movement of components may be easier at this time.

OR evil men who desire to move WMD components to a certain region for political motivations may find it is less likely that the movement will be detected at this time.

1. Now isn't that an interesting question.
Raised once before - and at the time I dismissed it. I don't think it was the point of the leak. But it could definitely be why there was so little concern about investigating and getting to the heart of assessing the damage from the leak.

3. Pesky CIA Was Getting in the Way of the next LIHOP/MIHOP
Maybe they were the ones that blew away the BFEE attempt to plant WMDs in Iraq too.

2. Does this mean the plan to plant WMDs is back on?
I think even the freepers deep down are getting sick of making excuses for not finding WMDs.

5. No planting of WMDs
the international media was already too hot on the faulty intel pre invasion. So intense was the heat (though not so much here) that had there ever been "plant" plans, they realized that getting caught at it was a bigger risk with more damage than not getting caught. Plus those at the top have echoed each other enough to believe that there really were WMDs to find.

Even now - there is far too much scrutiny. With each more published mistep - the danger to the admin of a new mistep grows larger.

The bigger winner on no tracking - are the corporations involved in arms dealing, in developing components usable for arms/weaponry, etc. Follow the money!

4. The small arms trade is HUGE in Africa and portions of Latin America
Edited on Tue Sep-30-03 12:02 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
Many of the arms shipped all over the world get there via Africa and Costa Rica, Panama, and a few other places.

The wars on the Ivory Coast would NOT even be able to occur were it NOT for the small arms trade. These are the real means of funding both terrorists and covert operations and there is BIG BIG money both for American mfrs and Russians looking to offset theri economic woes.

I felt from the get go that not only was this to chill and silence agents from coming forward, it was likewise designed to SPOIL whatever intelligence HONEST CIA agents involved in counter-terrorism might discover or be able to reveal.

Information on the small arms trade in these nations can be found here:

http://www.publicintegrity.org/dtaweb/ICIJ_BOW.ASP?L1=10&L2=65&L3=0&L4=0&L5=0&State=

and here:

http://www.cdi.org/program/index.cfm?programid=23

Keep in mind, this is simply a theory and suspicion on my part but with the addition of Rand Beers onto John Kerry's staff I DO think this discussion is relevent.

on edit: The connect is that given that one has to assume MS Plame's contacts were in the region where her husband was sent (i.e. Niger...probably he was familiar with that area and served there so THEY could be together during his or her tenure) it is possible that she too had some DAMNING discoveries on WHO terrorizes and HOW and WHERE their funds are sourced.
