Hollinger execs indicted by Patrick Fitzgerald
Two former Hollinger International Inc. executives were indicted on seven counts of fraud in a federal court Thursday for their roles in the alleged theft of more than $32 million from the company.

David Radler, former president of Hollinger International (HLR: news, chart, profile) , and Mark Kipnis, former counsel for the company, were named in indictments announced by Patrick Fitzgerald, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.

Also indicted was Ravelston Corp., which is the holding company of Toronto-based Hollinger Inc. (CA:HLG.C: news, chart, profile) , the parent of Hollinger International.

"The investing public has a right to expect that officers and directors of publicly traded companies are managing, not stealing, the shareholder's money," Fitzgerald said in a statement.

I seem to recall there are some connections between Hollinger and Richard Perle as well. Attorney Fitzgerald sure is a busy man.

5. This is a big one
Ricard Perle was (is?) a board member.

Conrad Black was the owner.

Among other newspapers Hollinger owns the Telegraph, the Chicago Sun and the Jerusalem Post. Black was forced to resign and sell the company a couple of years ago because of millions of dollars in unauthorized payments that he made to himself.
