1. I understand
I have been doing that a lot lately. I work my ass off and because of the shitty economy I haven't gotten a raise in 4 years (coincidence?) and everything has gone through the roof. I am barely making it as opposed to the Clinton era, when living was fine.

6. I concur..........
Things "were" good at a time. Now, we're working harder with nothing to show for it.

2. I know, I know. I was crying this morning because it also
cost me $31 to fill up. Luckily, I only have to drive 30 miles round trip to work. But the sticker shock really hurts.

that's close enough to bother is SEVENTY CENTS higher!!!!!

seventy cents in ONE MONTH!!!!!

that would be a $43 fill up for me

i thought you had caught me filling up today...

 at the pump ripoff

dp

edit to add: i forgot to get the little bit in the plastic jug for the mower, so had to go and trickle a gallon in it afterwards while on errands. I spoke to the attendant and asked when the price would be coming down, and he said they'd be going up again shortly. I questioned why? and his response, 'about 1/2 mile away, they were charging $0.06 more so they were going to go up too'.

10. You crying? In SD, CA the gas is from $2.79 to $3++ (But good news . .)
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 07:35 PM by Klimmer
It cost me $46.00 to fill up my Toyota 4x4 (4 banger) pick-up. I'm pissed!!!

But I don't want to leave everyone crying and pissed. Here is the good news and this is off-the-shelf technology right now. Go get a Toyota Prius and do this conversion . . .

Toyota Prius converted to do PHEV can get 100mpg!!!

And if you use solar panels on your home to recharge your 20 mile or so limit Prius in EV mode only, then you can get easily 500mpg or so. But you got to pay the bucks-up front to play with this kind of conservation. We should all be doing this like --- yesterday.

11. $82. 50
to fill the 30 gallon tank on the dually here in central Calif now. Sorry, but have to have a full size pickup truck to get hay and farm supplies, etc. But I only walk down the hallway to get to work/office, and we save up errands to make one trip to town a week in the truck.

13. My mom said earlier today
that gas for her was $26. What we're doing is when the tank gets half empty we fill it up then. It helps save some.

I'M a Journeyman Ironworker I have to travel anywheres up to 2 hours one way !!

Ive been somewhat around my house this summer but most of my work coming up through the winter will be 1 1/2 hours 1 way. Carpooling now costs me what it did when I drove alone, at this time last year. AND THATS WITH 4 PEOPLE!!! plus I have to drive 1/2 hour just to meet those people. Wow

16. The tears were running down my cheeks this morning
as I passed the Texaco station with regular gas at $2.50 this morning.

But that's because the cool air of my morning bike ride to work makes my eyes water.

19. cab drivers are crapping their pants
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 08:24 PM by wli
I took a cab around the Bay Area earlier this week. It looks like they're charged some fixed rate to rent the cab on a weekly or monthly basis and have limited (didn't get a straight answer) control over the rates they charge. This oil Enronization is going to put cabbies out of business.

ON EDIT: I tipped very heavily.
