Truthout: 'Peace Mom' Leaves Camp, Her Mother Ill
'Peace Mom' Leaves Camp, Her Mother Ill
By Angela K. Brown
The Associated Press

Thursday 18 August 2005

The grieving woman who started an anti-war demonstration near President Bush's ranch nearly two weeks ago said Thursday she was leaving because her mother had a stroke.

Cindy Sheehan told reporters she had just received the phone call and was leaving immediately to be with her 74-year-old mother at a Los Angeles hospital.

"I'll be back as soon as possible if it's possible," she said. After hugging some of her supporters, Sheehan and her sister, Deedee Miller, got in a van and left for the Waco airport about 20 miles away.

Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son Casey died in Iraq, said the makeshift campsite off the road leading to Bush's ranch would continue. The camp has grown to more than 100 people, including many relatives of soldiers killed in Iraq.

1. Now that shows why liberals are weak...
Bush would never leave something he thought was important just because his mother had a stroke.

4. They will, Cindy was the catalyst but it is not just about her
It started being 1 mother holding Mr.bush accountable for the lies he told to get the USA to invade/occupy Iraq, asking him to account for those lies, asking what "nobel cause" it was her son died for. Many people have felt alone and afraid, wondering what they, as an individual, could possibly do. Cindy has been the catalyst to bring us together as a growing group to hold Mr.bush accountable. The movement is on and will continue.

I will be there in 5 days, one more middle aged mom, asking Mr.bush "why" and letting people know they are not alone and need not be afraid.
