Remember the Black Arm Bands of the VietNam War Moratorium? |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-18-05 06:43 PM by stlsaxman
I do. As a young adult, i'd see people, mostly students wearing them. I wore one of my own making as i was a few months away from the draft possibly taking me there...
any one here remember them? who started that campaign and could something like that be started again?

2. I got suspended from school |

(3 days) for wearing one that my MOTHER made for me. She made them for quite a few of my friends but I got tossed because it was MY MOTHER who made them. She is still the coolest. This was in Bay City, Texas on the first Moratorium Day.

I was in the eigth grade on the first Moratorium day. I skipped school to be in a peace march. I left home in the morning with my books so my mother would think I was going to school. The next day, my picture appeared on the front page of our newspaper with the title "Youngest Protestor"! Strangely enough, I didn't get in alot of trouble.

I had forgotten the language we spoke. Turbulent times indeed. We have a ways to go, numbers wise.
