Opportunity for proving media is right wing |
|
If you have the time and you want to do us a favor, now is the time.
You may have noticed, the right wing media is already delivering their talking points about the Wilson-Rove-CIA-Novack story.
They don't seem to deny that six journalists were called with the name of Wilson's wife.
They do appear to have orders to obfuscate what level of the administration was involved.
They do appear to have orders to claim that Wilson's wife is an analyst, not an operative.
They do appear to have orders to obfuscate the importance of the leak as it relates to the law on file that applies to disclosure.
They make no mention of the deaths that may have already occurred as a result of the disclosure nor the startling end of the wife's career and the harm resulting from resulting revelations about CIA investigations.
They are paying no attention to consequences of the act whether or not there is a legal case.
Start with latest Will Pitt's article in Truthout and try to disprove it over time at the same time using it as a possible true telling of the story. Tape and write notes about how the right wing plays it and you will have perfect proof about how the right wing press, especially the cable shows, play it. Keep in mind that they will be given new talking points, probably daily, but especially for the afternoon and evening shows. This means that once someone starts to say anything different from the previous day, then all the others will be saying it.
We'll know the outcome eventually and there will be obvious ammunition for proof of the cabal's cable being the screen unit of the right wing army. This is a perfect case study for what Murdoch, GE, and Time-Warner and all their investors and board members are doing for the right wing.
Include the print operatives also, at least the net news - all from the comfort of your chair or the library chair. Go backwards as well as forward. For all of us.

going to happen.
Dems whine - do not know how to handle media - expect the media to do their job, etc, etc is all you will get AFTER you prove that they are in lockstep kissing GOP ass and airing or printing GOP talking points with the GOP spin of the day.
The media never admits bias for a paycheck or paymaster approval - we just do not understand the rules they play by so we do not see how unbiased the media really is - those EU outlets are biased - the Guardian is "left wing" and not to be trusted or emulated - we the US media do not print stories that the Guardian covers because there is just so much space and time in a day to tell the news and we must use our best judgement as to which stories folks are interested in since the news is really a money making entertainment operation paid for by right wing corporations who we must keep happy because they pay the bills.
Can you not understand this!
So lock step GOP PR and making Bush look good is the excellent media that America wants!
:-)
Now let's dump on the Dems because that has entertainment value!
:-)

2. Good idea, and response too |
|
First, I agree that proving bias proves what we already know. I'd like to do this work but I think mediawhoresonline is already doing this type of work.
Secondly, I really agree that we don't know the rules of the game anymore. There used to be a time when boycotting sponsors and hitting corporations in the pocketbook netted results. Those days are over when it comes to the media.
The only way that we can ever hope to regain control IMHO is through legislative change. The process of media deregulation has to become the primary strategy of the next president(s) if we are ever going to see this change. In the meantime, we have to do everything possible to ensure that we retain the powerful internet as part of the overall media.

3. "senior administration officials" |
|
They do appear to have orders to obfuscate what level of the administration was involved.
My understanding is that only Novak knows this. Nobody else knows anything beyond "senior administration officials".
