Poll question: Cindy's leaving Crawford to be with ill mother, is it over?
Cindy's mom has had a stroke and she is headed out to be with her. The severity is not known yet, so it is not known when Cindy will be back. I am sure that some will say this movement is over because Cindy chose to be with her ill mother, I say otherwise.

This movement started by 1 mother holding Mr.bush accountable for the lies he told to get the USA to invade/occupy Iraq, asking him to account for those lies, asking what "noble cause" it was her son died for. Many people have felt alone and afraid, wondering what they, as an individual, could possibly do. Cindy has been the catalyst to bring us together as a growing group to hold Mr.bush accountable. The movement is on and will continue.

I will be there in 5 days, one more middle aged mom, asking Mr.bush "why" and letting people know they are not alone and need not be afraid.

1. George has not honestly answered her questions.
He can't, he's between the proverbial rock and a hard place, and there is a big mama mountain lion standing on the rock. Cindy is just the first in line.

4. You'd think
that * would know that you NEVER come between a mother and her cubs.
I think women just scare the hell out of this punk so he puts on the idiot macho bravado to hide the fear.

2. Candace Lightner founded MADD because her daughter was killed.
Ms. Lightner, although she later became a bit too ego-happy in the MADD foundation, initiated a national movement that affected the DUI laws. The situation is nearly identical: One child dead, one grieving mother, one nation altered by her activism.

Is it over because Cindy Sheehan is doing the right thing? Hell no! From one little grain of sand, we shall watch a mountain emerge.

5. Exactly. There are more and more people getting involved.
I do hope her mother is ok, and that Cindy can be comfortable with staying or leaving as need be, and I wish I could meet her. I'll be happy with the second, hoping for the first, and oh well for my third wish.

9. If you are asking me personally, hell no
I got my tickets and wish I could stay longer. If all you people out here give up and move on to the next thing, I'm gonna be really really pissed off. All those vigils last night, all the publicity, people asked me about it today. I told a 75 yr old friend I'm going camping next wk in Crawford she immediately knew where and why and was excitedly envious. Cindy was the catalyst, we need to carry it on and show that it is NOT ABOUT HER. Mr.bush needs to be held accountable for his lies. We need to do it.

This post was in response to what I see will happen next, "cindy left, get over it" bs from a certain mindset and IT WON'T HAPPEN!

see, I do get uppity. Peace.

10. An eloquent summary by Aaron Kinney of Salon
Though she has suffered withering criticism from conservative backers of the war, Sheehan clearly has the right stuff for her cause, those indefinable qualities that have drawn people to her and her purpose. She's been branded a conspiracy theorist and a liar. She's been called a dupe of liberal activists and a product of lazy reporters who found an easy story, though she came to Crawford on her own, and the media would have already deserted her if her tale hadn't resonated with the public. She's been subjected to vicious assaults on her character, attacks that she has borne with humor and dignity. It is her stories of meeting and befriending people from different walks of life, some who have come to confront her, however, that are the best measure of why she is succeeding. For whatever reason, she connects with people, even people who don't share her point of view. These human qualities are the reason why millions of Americans will be anxiously watching for the next developments in this story, hoping for a triumphant return to her Texas encampment.

21. Stop the war. Learned that succinct phrase in 1968.
I seem to remember it dawning on me as a junior in high school in 1968 that my debate performance in support of the Domino Theory was BS. This time, it started in January 2002. There is no chance, like there was not in Vietnam, of a good result coming out of our continuing presence in Iraq. Back to boring, long term and effective diplomacy. Stop the War.

27. Probably, but you just never know.
I am interested in talking to these people, seeing if it is possible to exchange ideas rather than insults or be pedagogy. Trying to understand people who think different than I do is interesting, if they can get beyond stock phrases and actually discuss issues. If they get stuck with stock phrases and insults, I have no time to waste on them.

29. Thank you everyone who voted here.
I find it quite reassuring that you all answered so quickly so positively. This is beyond any one of us, and includes us all. It started before the war began, gained power with the DSM, more with Rove the traitor, and now it has gotten a public human face. Thank you all for working to end this war and end the occupation of USA by the current administration. Peace
