Is it just me? I have noticed over the past couple of days DUers

are being very rude and snotty with each other. Most of the people have over 1000 posts so I don't think it's freepers. Let's save the anger for the people that deserve it, let's not turn on each other.

Found out today that the quick lube place that did my oil change last Friday, before we left, actually didn't change to oil OR the filter. They just put a little oil on top of the old oil. Didn't change the filter.

A new car engine will cost me 4500. :cry:

20. Tempers have been running hot. There is a lot of frustration out there

and people get ornery this time of year no matter what. I hope all the pictures of the vigil will give some hope and renewed energy and focus which we all need. As we see more Americans taking to the streets again, things will go better. (Except there will also be more panic on the right and that usually sends a wave of provocateurs here.)

What makes liberals strongest is also what makes it hard to get agendas pushed: we do not march in lock step. We will often knock our heads together pretty good. Don't even go into the gungeon if you don't thrive on hostile conflict ;)

One sure fire way to get me to come at you is to make nasty remarks about 'red states'. When bigotry rears its ugly head and people start in making hateful generalizations about rural populations that would never be tolerated were they made about any ethnic group, there will be a rumble! Bashing whole populations here is counterproductive, will be used against us by media pundits and is just plain stupid.

And don't think there aren't some freeper types here with well over 1000 posts. Not hard to rack up 1000 posts. We can watch it happen via silly question threads sometimes where the OP will answer each and every response, then start up another thread and do the same thing. There have been some who work in pairs or small groups, posting to each other, carrying on long discussions. There are patterns one can observe where posters will rack up a mess of points in short order. There are even sites that teach how to do it.

Things seem to go in cycles here, just like everywhere else. If things seem to bother you, a little time away can help. The ignore feature is a real help too!

The poster you refer to should be ashamed of themselves! This is what DU is all about, sharing information and news and ideas and a bit of humor with one another...
Maybe you hit a freeper, or someone just having a really bad day (many are on a hair trigger these days, but usually we all come around back to the business at hand, bygones and all that.) That particular question HAS been covered a lot; it's one of those things where there is some general misinfo circulating, and we try to stop those sorts of rumors from spreading and thus damaging the credibility of the movement generally--but whoever they were, they really didn't need to chew yuor ass off over it.No question is a stupid question, except maybe the questions Butcho asks, like "Is are children learning?"
Don't be discouraged; keep on asking questions, keep on learning and contributing... and when someone really disses you, there's always Ignore or Alert (in the most extreme cases)... or you can always send me a pm, and I'll come by and clean their clocks for ya!

and there are some inside things that people play with. Generally speaking though, DU is one of the far nicer boards one can go to...:)

I have seen 'anything goes' boards, and one where the PC Police are so smothering that one can't discuss anything that has a noun in it w/o being taken to task!

I have been here awhile, posting away and generally keeping my head on straight, even when accosted. I understand that some people are obnoxious, and others have self-esteem issues...it is all part of the way we work together. You need a tough skin to hang out on the net when people are not discussing "American Idol" or the latest Brittany Spears single. DU can be a rough and tumble place, but we have one thing in common, we want the bush cabal ousted from the WH, and we never want neo-cons to gain power again. One thing is for sure, if you are a part of DU, you are among some of the greatest people you'll most likely never meet...:)

55. The tension is pretty thick right now.

Things are finally beginning to turn around; *'s numbers are falling, more and more people are coming out against the war, Cindy Sheehan, August is almost over (something always seems to happen in Sept or Oct). I think with all this going on, with everyone just waiting for something to happen, that tensions are just really high and people are more likely to become snarky with each other.
