Need help with bush member's Saddam quotes pre 9/11

Someone please post the various quotes from shrub admin members that were downplaying the threat of saddam before 9/11 happened? I know there are some juicy ones out there. Then of course 9/11 happened, and sadaam msut be a threat again, so the rhetoric changed.

I'm in an online debate with a chickenhawk, and really could use these to kick his ass. :)

1. I don't think they were downplaying the threat of Saddam, I think
that they were playing it up, once they were in office but before 9/11.

Look for anything before they went into office when Clinton handled it . . .

although they don't touch base on what was said pre 9/11, but it does covers a lot why the war is immoral and unjustified. I'll post more as i find them.

2. I forgot who said it
But, somebody wrote an op-ed piece in the summer of 2001 saying that we should pay more attention to Osama bin Laden & terrorism (remember, prior to 9/11, the Bush Administration's primary defense /security focus was on "Star Wars" missile defense)

But, somebody in the administration wrote an op-ed in response that basically said that "Osama bin Laden doesn't have any missiles"

3. sorry, misread the original post
Colin Powell & Condi Rice both said in 2001 (prior to 9/11) that Saddam was contained & not a threat to even his neighbors.

5. Here you go:
http://www.thememoryhole.org/war/powell-no-wmd.htm

Secretary Powell: "The sanctions, as they are called, have succeeded over the last 10 years, not in deterring him from moving in that direction, but from actually being able to move in that direction. The Iraqi regime militarily remains fairly weak. It doesn't have the capacity it had 10 or 12 years ago. It has been contained.... There's no question that they have some stockpiles of some of these sorts of weapons still under their control, but they have not been able to break out, they have not been able to come out with the capacity to deliver these kinds of systems or to actually have these kinds of systems that is much beyond where they were 10 years ago."

6. and from Condi
Then {CNN guest anchor John) King asks her about the sanctions against Iraq. She replies:

"But in terms of Saddam Hussein being there, let's remember that his country is divided, in effect. He does not control the northern part of his country. We are able to keep arms from him. His military forces have not been rebuilt. "
