We need to move the focus to the Peace Movement
and away from Cindy Sheehan. At least that's my opinion.

Any suggestions?

1. cindy sheehan IS the peace movement.
I am curious as to know what cause you thought she was representing if not the peace movement?

18. i read it and agree actually.
i presumed that you impled she was something other than the peace movement. the subject line in my post was actually a bit simplistic for my actual view, to be honest. I am not one for "cult of personality" politics so much either so post 8 makes sense to me.

3. Without Cindy, I'm not aware of much of a movement
She's giving us an opportunity for something to build on, not to avoid.

11. My point is that it's time to BUILD and not stall out on one
individual.

19. I know your intentions are good. BTW, your thread should make all of us
realize that there is NO real Peace Movement when you think about it. Cindy IS the Peace Movement. That in itself is pathetic (not her, but the rest of us who aren't getting into the streets with signs protesting like she is).

4. Reich wingers know Cindy represents the peace movement
That's why they're so desperately trying to discredit her, and it's backfiring on them. They're terrified of her.

12. And that's why we need for this to be about PEACE
and NOT about Cindy. Don't let the RW turn this around on us. They would love for it to be about Cindy on and on until it's just old news and the purpose is forgotten or lost.

6. We all need to show up in Crawford this weekend
to support the other Gold Star Moms for Peace and show that even if Cindy is not there, the movement will continue.

13. But it won't take root if we don't steer the focus away from
one individual or one time frame, etc. and towards what we're trying to promote - peace.

8. I agree.
If this whole peace movement revolves around Ms. SHeehan the human, it will rise or fall with her. She's a "DOER", a catalyst--a spark plug that many people thinking similar thoughts needed to light a fire under their butts to get louder. Don't make her into some kind of an idol--take the force and move with it. Replicate if you are also a Gold Star parent or while keeping the "soul" of the idea, mutate it into something that works equally loudly. Find the people who resonate with your group and externalize it.

17. Cindy Sheehan gives a face to this movement...
This is what has been sorely needed for so many of these issues to vie with the other "tabloid stories" that are dominating our MSM news lately. She is a face that is hard for them to fight without making themselves look bad!

On the other hand, from the subject title, I almost thought one was saying focus on the peace movement as opposed to many other issues out there now. I see that is not the case from reading the thread, but I want to emphasize that there are also many other issues that need to also be heard strongly now, like Sibel Edmonds need to be heard by the Supreme Court, the Valerie Plame and other related investigations by Fitzgerald, other whistleblower's cases, etc.

Cindy and her movement is getting a *lot* more attention than they are now, and though I'm happy that she is getting the attention she is getting and want her to get more, I don't want us to lose track of these other *VERY* important issues that are trying to expose the core of this corrupt government and hopefully bring it down soon! We need to be focused on *many* fronts now and keep the wingnuts off-balance and not sure how to defend themselves.
