1. Also note that of the bottom 10, 7 are GOP... |
|
of the top 10, 7 are Dems.
Go figure.

6. It seems that he's always had strong local support. |
|
Strong local support does not equate to being a good politician. Just look at Jesse Helms or Strom Thurmond.

4. Wow!! 21 Repugs < 50% and 7 of 10 bottom-feeders are Repugs. |
|
Now if they only didn't control the vote-counting process, we could return to government by the "consent of the governed."

5. top "net approval rate" 59% (for Snowe) |
|
One more reason to forget about backing a Senator for President. Too much legislative history, too many pissed off voters.
Dem Senators need to stay where they are. We need them (and a few more) in the Senate.

7. Is this a non partisian popularity list |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 04:21 PM by DanCa
Who they feel who is non partisian and that is why "our favorites" are so far down on the chart. Senator Obama not withstanding of course.

10. Anti-war Murray(D) 57% Pro-war Cantwell (D) 47% |
|
Cantwell is up this year and may have a tough time if the lefties (like me) do some payback for her IWR vote.
Seems like playing to the middle is coming back to bite her in her sorry DLC ass.

18. A lot of Alaskans like Ted Stevens |
|
because he brings home the bacon in obscene amounts. He's a corrupt and crotchety old fart, though. I can't wait until he's gone. Thankfully Alaskans voted to hold special elections instead of having appointments to fill vacancies (after the Murkowski fiasco) so hopefully when he dies, his even worse son Ben, a state congress critter, won't be appointed. It's time for the Democrats to take back Alaska.

22. Ironic that individually the worst senators are in the 40's, |
|
but the collective approval rating for the Senate is something like 28%. Someone correct that number if I'm way off, but whatever the exact figure it reveals that while a large majority don't approve of the job Congress is doing, most people don't consider THEIR senator or representative to be part of the problem.
Which makes unseating an incumbent that much more difficult.
