US diplomats to get refresher course in Bush foreign policy from top neocon
17 minutes ago Add Politics - AFP to My Yahoo!

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US diplomats, often accused of not fully backing White House policies, are to get a refresher course in President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s vision for the world this week when a leading figure in the neoconservative movement speaks at the State Department.

William Kristol, who has at times over the past three years questioned the loyalty of career diplomats and once even that of Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites), is to address diplomats on Wednesday, the department said.

A prominent conservative columnist and chairman of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), Kristol is to present a speech entitled "The Bush Doctrine: Theory and Practice" in an apparent attempt to remind the diplomatic corps of the president's goals.

<snip>

PNAC, which espouses boosting US supremacy in world affairs, has embraced many so-called hawks in the Bush administration including Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites), Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his deputy, Paul Wolfowitz.

4. It does need to get out more

If more people knew about Project for the American Century they'd "connect the dots" how the Iraq War Came about.

Dot 1. PNAC Strategy in formulated in the 90's, even encouraged Clinton to invade Iraq.
Dot 2. Wait for a "Pearl Harbor Event" (9/11)
Dot 3. Convince a uncurious, unintelligence President that attacking Iraq would be good for the war on terror.
Dot 4. Sell it to the American people. (WMDs, etc)

5. Oh, so not true
While protesting in Portland last March, I came across several people carrying anti-PNAC signs. I approached all of them and asked how they came to know PNAC. Nary a one of them had heard of DU.

In my own small town, I discovered a wonderful elderly lady that does not own a computer, nor has ever used one. She began to tell ME about PNAC. lol Btw, she thinks Truman was the best president in her 75 years on this earth.

Furthermore, Nightline w/Ted Koppel devoted an entire program to PNAC last winter.

Nope, it ain't just DUers that know about PNAC.

I voted and it stands at 4.47.
