I didn't WANT to be right. |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-19-05 09:30 PM by BleedingHeartPatriot
When Al Gore conceded, I said.."The voter in Florida were f***ing robbed, along with the voters throughout the country."
When 9-11 happened I said.."OMG, gwb, et. al. can effectively deflect attention from their disastrous domestic and international policies"
When the Patriot Act was enacted, I said.."gwb and his cronies are using 9-11 to subvert our civil liberties."
When the 2002 elections gave the majority rule to the repubs, I said.."the legislative branch will be held hostage to the executive branch."
When gwb et.al. began beating the war drums for Iraq, I said.."there is absolutely no reason to attack Iraq."
When we went into Iraq, I said.."there are no WMD's and there is no plan to manage the situation in the aftermath of our catastrophic attack on a sovereign nation."
When there were no WMD's discovered in Iraq, I said.."Of course there aren't weapons of mass destruction since that country has been under the international microscope since 1991."
And when Blackwell and cronies fixed the 2004 election, well, I knew it.
I am so f***ing tired of being right about this whole mess. MKJ
Edited to add...I would have been OK with being wrong about any of the above stuff.
Any of it. MKJ

2. More of the same, unfortunately. |
|
I want to say that the 2006 elections will change the composition of the legislative branch of our government.
Wanting to and believing are two different things. MKJ

5. Well, I'm correct that I want 2006 to bring a change, but I'm not sure |

if I believe it.
That said, I will do whatever I can locally, to send more people to Washington that advocate for the working (and paying out the kazoo) people of our country.
It would have been nice to have one situation occur that proved my cynical predictions wrong. Just one. MKJ

Patriot act 3 (I believe 2 passed while we weren't looking)
Iran
crazy inflation
$100 oil
massive personal bankruptcies
tactical nukes
something wacky around the 2006 midterms
Islamic Christian fundamentalist statehood for the US

6. You effectively presented the "list" that all of us know about |
|
But, if I talk about this to anyone but the "choir", it doesn't register.
More stuff I'd really prefer to be wrong about.

7. sounds pretty much on target |

PATRIOT II was not passed as-is. It was passed as a large series of "rider bills" and executive orders. PATRIOT III is likely to be carried out similarly, but never announced as a bill as such (i.e. it will never be called PATRIOT III). 2006 midterms will be grossly corrupt and I expect police brutality and a number of assassinations and disappearances of those trying to ensure the elections' integrity. I see high but moderate inflation, not "crazy" inflation (hyperinflation, really). And so on.

8. God told me *I kid you not* back in 2000 during the election |
|
recount that if W went into office we would have the worst war we have ever seen.
Now, I don't know when or where, and I dunno if he meant we America or we humanity. But I suspect he meant the latter. :(

I'm on the same page about gwb's ascension into the world of international politics.
I also like that God is making sure that gwb's dad is hanging out with, and really liking, Bill Clinton...MKJ

happen feeling" before. and it did.
So I am inclined to take it seriously. Esp since ** is going out of his way to be a jerk both domestically and abroad.

I just saw the preview on CNN for Dead Wrong. The media act all surprised that the intelligence was flawed and that * took the US to war based on one faulty source. But we knew! We all knew what was going on, how come they act surprised now. I just get so sad knowing we tried to make our voices heard and most were unwilling to hear us. I didn't want to be right either.
I don't want to be right about stolen elections, treason, and the complete abuse of power. I don't want to be right about a compliant media and ignorant Americans but we are right.

15. It's so true...I was actually telling my freep ex-friends |
|
"Please prove me wrong". If having the repubs in charge of everything will help all of us, great.
Well, I now have ex-friends I no longer speak to and a country going down the tubes.
And the worst of it is seeing it coming.

regret being wrong. I know it didn't change anything, but at least you have the clarity of conscience that you didn't contribute to the state of things.
Think of all those who voted for Bush having to regret it the rest of their lives.

17. Thanks Cleita, you have a great point. I have not budged from my |
|
opposition to the war.
Those who know me, have no doubt about my opinions regarding this administration and it's misguided, deceptive approach to Iraq and everything else.
Thanks again for the reminder of how much worse off (cognitively) I could be right now. MKJ :yourock:

18. many people have a real problem getting their minds around . . . |
|
the magnitude of the totalitarian conspiracy that has taken over our government . . . and the sheer evil involved in their plans for world domination . . .
in many cases, it's not even that they don't WANT to believe it . . . it's that they CAN'T . . . because believing that something this vast and this evil could emanate from our own government would destroy the very foundation of belief upon which their lives are structured . . . it's comparable to telling good Christians there is no God . . .
when people either can't or won't believe something, even incontrovertible evidence often won't change their minds, because doing so would undermine their entire belief structure . . .
