2. I love the show but Bill got rolled over tonight. |
|
He just doesn't fight back anymore. He tries to be polite to the repukes and gets rolled over by the talking points just like all the others.
He needs to make sure that from now on he has a STRONG liberal voice on with him to shut the cons the hell up.

What show were you watching? He knocked Bush consistently through out.
He said Bush was a great scientist for mixing 2 parts booze and one part cocaine while still being able to fly a fighter jet. Sounds openly and vigorously anti-bush to me.

10. Plus his comment that blacks are "fighting the war" |
|
was just wrong - 3/4 of the dead soldiers are white.
It's a class thing, not a race thing.

One for Hackett, and the other one for at least bringing up some questions (Rove, ID, etc.) Not one of the better shows. There needs to be at least one person to silence the lies of Kellyanne.

whazername blondie there drives me nuts - I HATE IT WHEN SHE'S ON!
Gawd, does she love to hear herself speak or what!
and that old windbag Phyllis hasn't bought a new dress or wig since the '50s - it's like the last 50 years just don't exist for her...
I thought Bill's HBO special was GREAT and I was really looking forward to the return tonight.
a few good moments but disappointing

I think Bill held his own, with no real help from Chris Rock, fairly well against the three RW guests. Paul Hackett did well. The old conservative broad was a hoot, especially after Bill mentioned her gay son. It seemed like Chris Rock was waaaayyyy out of place, especially since the only thing he seemed to contribute was the high-gas-price bit.

9. I tuned in tonight hoping that Maher would have developed a more informed |
|
posture - but I was so disappointed yet again. The guy is a not only a badly informed eglamanic, he is a blatent, unapolegetic racist.
That's why he adores Michelle Malken and Ann Coulter is a good friend. Which is the case with most Libertarians that I've known.
I nearly always regret having tuned in to his show, he is more often not funny to me, than otherwise.
And why in the hell give that wacko Phyllis Schafley any more air time than these creeps get on MSM and their own broadcasts other than to pander to these bastards? Also, he completely negates any notion that one of the most critical aspects of elections rigging, is the manufacturing a false dichotemy such as that the Conservatives are the actual majority of the population in this country and that has been proven to be false on it's face over and over again.
And the hyped up fear over immigration is a racist reaction to the notion that the white population is quickly becoming a minority.
Can any progressive imagine how such a demographic shift as radical as that would bring to the political landscape in this country?
As a white woman, I welcome that shift. And the sooner the better.

I liked Bill's crack about ID (Idiotic Design) and the godlike wisdom of the Thermos. It proves it's a god by knowing when to keep cold things cold and hot things hot.
KellyAnne Conway was amazing. She's as unconcerned about truth as Ann Coulter, but even dumber. When Bill Maher busted her for stating the exact opposite of the situation in Iraq regarding freedom of women (hint to Ms. Conway: they wore burqas in Afghanistan), she said that just because something is written in books, newspapers, magazines, or appears on network or cable TV doesn't mean it's true. So, where did she get her truth from? Talk radio?
I also liked the gag about Swedish terrorists. They would no doubt belong to the cult of Loki, god of mischief. That would make them particularly hard to defend against, since they would commit acts of terrorism just for the fun of it.
As for the books President Bush supposedly took on vacaction with him, I think we all know he's still working his way through "My Pet Goat."

22. Where am I repeating a sentence? |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 03:01 PM by moddemny
I think there is some confusion here........ people usually put a sentence from something they are replying too so it is easier to follow the thread (you have a 1000+ posts - you should understand that by now)....... not exactly sure what you are referring too, if you read past the first sentence you would see what the general point is.
For the sake of clarity when you say "they don't act like they give a damn what we think of them" you mean?

They look like idiots, and since most of Bill's viewers are liberal (I would presume), it gives us more ammunition to use against them. I thought Phyllis Schafly was absolutely fabulous.

24. Downhill after Hackett |
|
Maher seemed off his game beginning with Hackett who seemed to be trying to out "sho-biz" Maher. It was downhill from there. Chris Rock was the only hope of some semblance of sanity and maybe a little humor and he was just stuck on the price of gas. Maher seemed lame in dealing with the other two, who jabbered on with the usual pointless rhetoric. I was so hoping to see him shaft Schaffly with a brilliant expose of her hatefulness and inanity but there was nothing brilliant about it. Yes, he pointedly asked if her son was gay but it seemed like a cheap shot and something the other side might do for lack of something better to "get her" on. We don't care about whether her son is outed, or if he's gay. What about her position on gay rights, free choice, women in the military, separation of church and state? All the crap that she's been spouting for years? Oh yes, and her wig. I remember it from the 60's. It is the same one.

|
Bill was out of form in this season opener, so I'll give him a pass. Chris Rock doesn't belong on a show where thought is required. I don't know why Bill feels the need to appease Republicans , but understand Bill....THEY FUCKING HATE YOU AND ALWAYS WILL!. Just because you bone a few Neocon skanks{insert Coulter and Conaway} now and then don't saddle us with your sloppy whores.
