I dreamed I saw Casey Sheehan last night, alive as you and me,
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 08:24 AM by mopaul
I dreamed I saw Casey Sheehan last night,
alive as you and me.
Says I "But Casey, you're one year dead"
"I never died" said he,
"I never died" said he.

"The Oil bosses killed you Casey,
they lied to you" says I.
"Takes more than guns to kill a man"
Says Casey "I didn't die"
Says Casey "I didn't die"

And standing there as big as life
so young & proud and wise,
Says Casey "They can never hide
a mother's weeping eyes,
a mother's weeping eyes.

in every town and city,
From San Diego up to Maine,
you'll hear a grieving mother cry,
Let no more die in vain,
Let no more die in vain.

I dreamed I saw Casey Sheehan last night,
alive as you and me.
Says I "But Casey, you're one year dead"
"I never died" said he,
"I never died" said he.

after joan baez's 'joe hill'

6. Actually it's based on a cover Joan Baez did of a song written
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 09:04 AM by ET Awful
by Alfred Hayes and Earl Robinson in 1936.

Just for clarity's sake :)

edited for date and additional credit. It was written in '36, recorded in '38 apparently.

Inspired by MoPaul's song.

14. I just watched Joan Baez
performance at Woodstock on VH1 an hour ago. The song still moves, and even more so now. What an amazing voice. I caught a concert of hers in 1971 and she was great. I didn't get drafted that year either, so all in all it was a pretty good year.

16. Joan Baez
I attended a Joan Baez concert in Portland shortly after 9/11. There was not a dry eye in the house when she sang "Joe Hill". Her voice is as strong as ever. There were equipment problems that night but she was still able to be heard in the third balcony, un-amplified !! A pretty lady with an awesome voice.
