Is Bush daring the terrorist to attack us?
His five day campaign to defend the Iraq war seems like a dare to the terrorist to hit us. Bush says troops in Iraq are protecting US from terrorists here, but his five day public push scares me, this would be a perfect time for the terrorist to strike us to prove him wrong. Am I just paranoid?

1. Why not?
He is Mr. Bring-Em-On, if you recall.

2. My feelings exactly
I just posted this under the "Puke Alert" thread which detailed Bush's plan for "explaining" our "noble cause". I've talked with long haul truckers and with riverboat captains, and they say they are concerned about the lack of security precautions on the rivers and highways of our nation. Bush really hasn't done much to make sure America is prepared for a possible terrorist attack.

4. Not long after 9/11.....
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 10:38 AM by Jade Fox
I talked to a friend who is a former flight attendant and still has many
connections with people in the airline industry. These folks told my
friend how shocked they were by the airline's response to 9/11.
They had expected to see training classes in how to deal with
hijack situations, thoughtful increased security measures, etc.
Instead what happened was basically....nothing.

8. Ya mean that seizing breastmilk, nail clippers,"no flying" infants,
and searching toddlers isn't what was needed? I'm shocked!:sarcasm:

11. No, and no one asked....
those folks who work on airplanes what sort of security measures would
be useful. I guess it never occured to Bushco to consult the folks who fly
on planes everyday and whose lives would actually be in danger during
a hijacking. :eyes:

3. They aren't STUPID
Why rise to that lame bait??? Why hit a hard target when a soft one is easier and will get you what you want? Why hit someone crazy who could come back at you with a real weapon of mass destruction, when you can hit someone who will take their ball and go home (Spain, e.g.) if the game gets too rough?

He may be taunting and daring, but any crap against us will come on THEIR terms, not chimpy's. Chimp can TRY to foment an attack to "change the subject" but I would be real suspicious if one happened right now--the Insurgent/Islamic fundamentalist/Iraqi Nationalist causes are not advanced at all by hitting us.

Such a move would shut up the antiwar movement, and those with insurgent designs certainly would not want to do that. The ones who want to shut up the antiwar movement are none other than those in power over here, right now....

Ya gotta start with "cui bono?" Who benefits??? And work from there...

Is he playing politics with are National Security again? Hoping they will strike so he can play war president again.

7. Well, it IS what he does
...but frankly, I would be surprised if they took the bait.

If he REALLY wanted to get them moving, he'd get working on finding ole Judge Bin Ladin (the real activist judge, per the Daily Show). Of course, that could be viewed over here as game, set, match, let's go home...and he still thinks he can get his paws on that Iraqi oil, so he can't wind this sick game up too soon, else he will have to forfeit that prize...

9. A terror attack would certainly solve many of Buxh's problems
Waning support for the war, dwindling recruitment lines, and skeptical budget allowances.

He never again had the approval rating he enjoyed right after 9/11.

Another attack would once again focus the right wing on Buxh's foreign and domestic agenda. He may even be able to push through his social security reform to "stop these monsters".

10. No. He is PREPAIRING them to attack us.
They've essentially silenced or removed from a position of authority any in our intelligence who could warn of or prevent something of the kind.

13. Paranoid
Finished with George Bush ’cause he couldn’t help our country.
People think he's insane because he is waring all the time.
All day long Rove thinks of things but nothing seems to satisfy
Think I’ll lose my child if I don’t find something to pacify
Can you help him, occupy his ranch?
Oh yeah!
He needs someone to show him the Peace in life that he can’t find
He can’t see the things that make truth & honesty, he is blind
Make a war and you will cry and he will laugh as your kid dies
Happiness he cannot feel and love to him is so unreal
And so as you hear these words telling you now of our state
He must go on with life they wish they could but it’s too late
