5. Paul Beghala (sp?) did OK, yesterday
The problem is that Novak can say whatever he wants to, pretending to be protecting his 'journalistic integrity', and the confidentiality of his sources.

The man's like a priest, you know. Or a psychiatrist. People tell him things, and it's up to him to filter it back to us, in whatever way least hurts the Republicans.

Like, the ambassador's wife was just "an analyst", not a real player.

Novak's smart enough not to start selling shares for ownership of the Brooklyn Bridge. He's not likely to say anything that's going to expose the mendacity, or the crime, if there was one.

2. Is it my imagination or
does Novack look like he hasn't had much sleep lately? He looks a bit strained to me.

4. Roughed up by Rove - just been there for orders
from the DNC blog:

Sep 30, 2003

Where was he headed?

Returning to the DNC's downtown headquarters around 1 p.m. this
afternoon, I bumped into the
man in the eye of the storm: Robert Novak. Attired in a grey three-piece
suit, the veteran
journalist was walking with a sense of purpose at the corner of 17th and
I Streets NW. If you
looked at the direction he was heading, he appeared to be going straight
to the White House!
Makes you wonder....

8. Was it the New Bridge Strategies story?
Bush's 2000 campaign manager, the recently resigned FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Ass'n) head, jumping in to front for the Bush Clan's share of Iraqi Pork?

6. In MAY we were being branded as unpatriotic traitors
the reason the contractor fraud news has come out in SEPTEMBER is because now we can see that the repugs are truly the unpatriotic swine of this country feeding at the taxpayers trough at the expense of our dead and wounded troops.

9. God, Novak is a smug sonofabitch, isn't he?
I want to smack that smirking sense of superiority right off his face.

He's freaking proud of himself for destroying this woman's life, in service to his masters. What a disgusting display I'm watching right now.

:-(

18. I see your "fired" and raise you...
...a pair of handcuffs.

The crime is the public ID of an active CIA operative. In that case, Novak is a worse criminal than the leaks in the WH. the leakers told a few reporters, but Novak told the rest of the world. He didn't have to. Other papers didn't have to pick up the column. Novak is a criminal. There are very few occasions where words - even if it's the truth - is a crime and this is one of 'em.

13. clark clip
I don't see how any person with a hint of independant thought who is a democrat would support Wesley Clark. Being a general does not qualify him to be president. I know it sounds all nice and sweet that no one will be able to criticize him as being a coward, but that seems like a rather childish reason to support someone. He's made only a few vague statements about what he believes in and will continue to do so. People here these vague statements and want to believe that he completely agrees with them, until he can actually have concrete ideas I don't see how anyone can support him. Maybe a bit of hope, but thats about it.

14. has anyone asked Novak WHY he reported the name?
The name had no other purpose except for the White House's purpose, so why did Novak choose to be the only reporter willing to act as Rove's tool of revenge?

16. My note to crossfire
Novak should recuse himself from any discussion of the Valerie Plame matter until the investigation is finished.

How is it possible that he's allowed to comment on a story that involves him and involves national security interests? The man is a walking dirty bomb. He needs to be put on sabbatical if he can't stay out of the story.

21. Hey Carville--the "felonious Traitor" is sitting across from you!
I can't even watch this show anymore with Novak on. He needs to be off the air while this is being investigated. When I look at Novakula, all I can think is that someone is sitting in a torture room in some country somewhere because of this slime.

22. You know, this morning I thought that I wanted
to see Novak squirm as this whole scenario played out. I was wrong. I don't want to see his ugly little smarmy mug again. He doesn't regret naming Wilson's wife, he thinks he did a good thing; and he's acting like the schoolyard bully saying "Nah-nah-nah-nah-nah". Weasel. I get the sinking feeling that after this weekend, we won't hear much more of this story until Christmas, and then they'll say that it's been fully investigated and they can't find any wrongdoing or some poor slob that delivers mail will take the fall for it. It's so depresssing. (Oh, and double-screw Novak for never missing a chance to dump on Wesley Clark. All the candidates that they spoke to yesterday or today said the same thing that Clark said.)
