"Sweet Neo-con" ("complete" lyrics)
Edited on Sat Aug-20-05 02:46 PM by tiptoe
Note: The following post claims "complete lyrics" but not verified... (plus, see excerpt below -- "Updated...Aug. 15, 2005" -- for mention that the song "refer(s) to military contractor Halliburton" and other refrain lines that I don't see in these "complete" lyrics). Perhaps the pieces comprise the whole.

"Below are the complete lyrics to the song, “Sweet Neo Con,” by the Rolling Stones:..."

“You ride around your white castle,
On your little white horse
You lie to your people,
and blame it on your war of course

You call yourself a Christian,
I call you a hypocrite
You call yourself a patriot,
well I think you’re full of shit

Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time for the atom bomb?

You parade around in costume,
Expecting to be believed
But as the body bags stack up,
We believe we’ve been deceived

The horror you’ve unleased,
Will backfire with more grief
When will you ever learn,
Sweet Neo Con, as the world burns?

Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time for the atom bomb?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time to drop the bomb?”

Rolling Stones Threatened with Boycott

Jagger: ‘Neo Con’ song isn't anti-Bush AP, Updated: 7:03 p.m. ET Aug. 15, 2005
Stones front man says new cut isn't ‘personally aimed’ at president
...
The song is from the new album, “A Bigger Bang,” set for release Sept. 6. There is no mention of Bush or Iraq. But it does refer to military contractor Halliburton, which was formerly run by Vice President Cheney and has been awarded key Iraq contracts, and the rising price of gasoline.

“How come you’re so wrong?
My sweet neo-con,
Where’s the money gone,
In the Pentagon,” goes one refrain.

The song also includes the line:
“It’s liberty for all,
Democracy’s our style,
Unless you are against us,
Then it’s prison without trial.”
...

I wonder if they'll sing it on Monday Night Football:
Rolling Stones team with NFL and ABC

(Aug. 8, 2005) -- The worlds of music and football will collide this year as the legendary Rolling Stones will partner with the NFL and ABC for a season-long campaign.

The Rolling Stones will help kick off the 2005 season from their "A Bigger Bang" world tour with footage from their Aug. 31 concert in Detroit as part of "NFL Opening Kickoff 2005" -- a one-hour pregame special on ABC at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sept. 8.

ABC also will feature music and video footage of The Rolling Stones throughout the 2005 season in its Monday Night Football promotional campaigns and in-game highlight and tease packages. The campaign will feature new music from their highly anticipated CD, "A Bigger Bang", to be released on Virgin Records on Sept. 6, along with hits from their catalog.

The release of "A Bigger Bang" follows the Aug. 21 tour kickoff at Fenway Park in Boston as they once again bring fans electrifying performances and state-of-the-art stage production. For additional ticket information, go to tickemaster.com.
