Are we becoming too callous and cynical ?
In regards to Lance Armstrong, I apologize for whatever I may have said to reflect negatively on him. I do admire his athletic abilities and his endurance. I also admire the way he fought to overcome his cancer. I think it hurts a lot of people to see such an admirable person get so close to George W Bush, whom we have little sympathy for at all.

I hope we do not lose our ability to feel sympathy or pity for others. If we did that, everything we are fighting for would be for naught. I think wndycty was correct : we should not be so quick to make a judgement on Lance Armstrong. Let us wait and see where his heart really is. Again, I apologize for whatever impressions or words that I might have said to make people feel one way or another about Lance Armstrong. That said, George W Bush can kiss my ass!

1. NO!!!
and I don't think asking questions is going to make things any better at all.

j/k

I understand that some people are misled, and I take it upon myself to educate them. If I have to beat it into their skull, that's a deficiency on their part.

2. I don't think it is callous to comment on this photo-op
Armstrong clearly was a willing participant in this "Tour de Crawford". If someone tells me he also stopped by Camp Casey to wish them well, I might feel differently.

4. There are some here who enjoy flaming others.
Any wrong, perceived or real, will result in a personal attack. I thought the post you are apparently referring to was over the top.

I just learned I was a "bourgeoisie elitist faux progressive" and the same post stated I was not a "true progressive" since I stated we had a national addiction to petroleum.

This kind of crap pisses me off more than it should (obviously).

5. hey, I'm cutting Lance some slack . . .
he's trying to raise money for cancer research, and he's going to the guy holding the biggest purse strings . . . doesn't mean he's a bad guy, or that he supports what Bush is doing . . .

Lance is just following bank robber Willie Sutton's advice . . . when asked why he robbed banks, Sutton answered "Because that's where the money is" . . .
