Pictures from NEW Camp Casey site (Dial-Up Warning)

Cindy Sheehan has a giant tent (one commentator called it a "Cirque de Soleil" tent) set up at the new grounds one mile away from Bush's Crawford ranch. Sorry, no Steve Earle pics - the heat got to ginbarn and I, so we had to bail early.









Here's a new set of Arlington West crosses directly in front of the tent. I helped plant some of these myself.



We are right next to the Secret Service checkpoint guarding one of the two roads leading to Bush's ranch. Here's a Secret Service agent with bulletproof vest and Camelbak-style water backpack checking the ID of one of the locals.



As for me, this is probably the closest I'll ever get to Bush:

5. I'm sorry; we had to bail

Couldn't catch Steve performing; that would have been cool. Hopefully someone else did and will share pics with us.

Even with a larger tent an endless supply of free water and soda, a heat index of 110 F is brutal. They did try to keep us well-fed, though, with primarily veggie offerings. The organizers definitely have their act together on the food front.

7. It's terrific getting a look at these photos.

First view of the new location for the soldiers' crosses. That couldn't have been too easy under that scalding sun.

Don't think Larry North will have such an easy shot at them next time.
