Kuwaiti man slits daughter's throat: "HONOR killing" WOO HOO *W*!
Violence against women in news
January 27, 2005 - 18:56
Gulf Daily News

KUWAIT CITY: A Kuwaiti man killed his 14-year-old daughter by slitting her throat after he thought she was having pre-marital sex.

A security source yesterday said Adnan Al Enezi, 38, had confessed to murdering his eldest daughter, Haifa, for "improper" behaviour and was being questioned by the public prosecution.

Forensic tests showed Haifa was a virgin, the source said, adding the public prosecutor was investigating the case and the mental health of Enezi before filing charges.

Enezi is an employee at the Islamic Affairs Ministry.

===

Is this the kind of event that we can look forward to in Iraq now, "W"? Now that we have gone a TRILLION DOLLARS into debt and spent the lives of 1900 American sons and daughters to set up the Shi'ite Islamic Republic of Iraq? Did you mention that "staying the course" would result in a country where women are legally less than men?

As your PNAC mouthpiece Mr. Gerecht said this morning:

"Actually, I'm not terribly worried about this. I mean, one hopes that the Iraqis protect women's social rights as much as possible. It certainly seems clear that in protecting the political rights, there's no discussion of women not having the right to vote. I think it's important to remember that in the year 1900, for example, in the United States, it was a democracy then. In 1900, women did not have the right to vote. If Iraqis could develop a democracy that resembled America in the 1900s, I think we'd all be thrilled. I mean, women's social rights are not critical to the evolution of democracy. We hope they're there. I think they will be there. But I think we need to put this into perspective."

Did you tell America what "perspective" we had to keep in mind when the collective we gave you our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers to die for Iraq's new "freedom"?

In Islamic fundamentalist countries, homosexuality may be punished by the death penalty. Is that OK with you "W"? Or will your oil friends over there say to you in private "Heh heh heh, the faggot said 'boo hoo hoo please don't kill me'?"

...deem it necessary to learn the status of the child's virginity? Would it have determined how, or if, the father was charged?

7. Interesting question...
in following the honor killings in that part of the world I learned that sometimes the "sentence" imposed is 1 month in jail to the murderer. Brothers and fathers kill their sisters and daughters as a matter of course.

Annually between 25-30 women are killed in Jordan under claims of "honor" killings,
http://www.arabicnews.com/ansub/Daily/Day/990928/1999092819.html
so multiply that by the number and size of Islamic states and you get an idea of the carnage. Only in 1999 did Jordan even consider ending exemption to honor killings in the penal code.

==
From "Terrorism unveiled":

To kill a girl because she has sex is quite sickening, especially when the guy is deemed as only giving into the girl’s “seductions.”

It’s even worse when the person who chooses to kill the girl is her father, brother or uncle. I guess it reminds me of the passage in the Bible where Jesus rescues the woman who is about to be stoned and says “he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

When a family learns that the girl has threatened their “honor” in the community, they discuss this without the girl’s presence, even with the mother, and they just “know” that the girl has to be killed in order to regain their standing in the community—even though the community may not know about the relationship. It’s not even a choice, but a duty.

The mother knows this is the fate for her daughter, and even agrees to it, sometimes choosing the manner in which she will die…perhaps being burned alive, her throat cut, stoned or clubbed to death.

The family leaves the house, and the person who is chosen to kill her comes in and does it as the family is away so there are no witnesses. The whole community knows of the killing and accepts the family into the community with open arms because they have wiped their slate clean with the blood of their child.

8. I wonder how often it happened in pre-invasion secular Iraq.
I'm sure "honor killings" occurred, then, but the coming theocratic government will probably encourage it, if not legalize it outright.

Freedom is definitely on the march and Iraqi women are feeling those bootheels, eh George?

24. It will take some research ...
... to find links to specific statistics, but my understanding was that these types of killings were forbidden (truly forbidden, not the wink wink here's a month in jail) in secular, Baathist Iraq. The killings that did occur happened in the tribal or bedouin areas.

Perspective? PERSPECTIVE?!?!?! :grr:

:wtf:

What possible perspective can anyone take that makes it okay for Iraq to establish a government that in concept lags 100 years behind our own yet can call it any kind of democracy TODAY?

:boggle: (no, it isn't a smilie...but it sure ought to be)

14. This is one of the most depressing things I have ever read. I avoided
this thread for a long time, but eventually,I realized I'd have to click on it, nd now I am even sadder than what I thought I would be when I didn't know she was just 14 years old...

What kind of parent could possibly do something like this? I cannot think ofany justification for a parent to do this kind of insane stuff to their child. The bastardization of religions, all religions is responsible for this type of insanity, and this 'man' needs to get a little reality shoved down his throat. I am appalled.

Pakistan too.

Islamic people and leaders really need to stand up to this kind of stuff. I don't think the rest of us have any sway in the Islamic world.

Boys like Adnan Al Enezi deserve twice what they give.

21. This Sharia thing really isn't very fair to women. Even if you are
repressed beyond tolerance at least you should have a hearing if you really did the deed. But no, for women, you only have to be suspected of it or the deed done to you without your being able to stop it and still you are guilty and therefore your male relatives must kill you. I really love the women's rights and respect we have brought to the world. Oh, but I forgot, it really wasn't us but the men who run this country who did it.

Too bad we can't turn the tables on them.
