I'm blogging from Camp Casey II. Just watched Joan Baez. Ask me anything!
I decided to stay a couple of extra days.

I'm sorry to keep this short, but this is not my computer.

The blogging room at the Peace House was hacked yesterday, so they closed it down and enabled wi-fi at Camp Casey II.

Joan Baez was absolutely amazing. I am now a fan.

I have met several DUers, but we keep getting separated. There is so much going on!

Cindy just called in to say that her mom is getting better. She is wrapping up business, but she's coming home. SHe didn't give a date, but Wednesday is the current hearsay from Camp Casey I this morning.

I will try to answer as many questions as I can until

Guy Forsi and Sue Valesa has just come on stage. (I probably just ruined the spelling of their names.)

7. About 300.
Then there was a ceremony out in front of the tent. It was very moving. Hardly a dry eye.

There is now no music on the stage, but there will be more performances later this evening.

9. LOL. No, here's the quick explanation.
The activism is happening at 3 and a half locations:

1) Peace House: Hosting the event and helping with logistics.

2) Camp Casey I: The original ditch that Cindy Sheehan started waiting for Bush.

3) Camp Casey II: On land donated by a kind soul. There is a huge tent set up here where entertainment is happening.

3.5) The waterfall: There is a beautiful waterfall in Crawford at a community park. The water is great. People are gathering there to get respite from the heat.

3. Get out! You little history maker you. Hows the food? Lots of skeeters?
Are there the same faces everyday... or big turnover? Is "town" close enough to make runs? And if so, are folks pretty cool in town? Any teens/kids there? From the Steve Earle Stream, it didn't seem so. And finally... is the "Iconoclast" gang around?

10. Food is great.
Thanks to the support of DUers and other activists, everyone is being feed. There are many cases of dehydration, but it's not because they don't have access to fresh water. It's just that people get so involved with what they are doing that they forget to drink. (Strange, but that's what's happening.)

We can buy all the necessities in Crawford, but many videographers and reporters are staying in Waco to have reliable internet access.

I am VERY lucky to have access to this laptop at Camp Casey II. I wasn't expecting to be able to post today.

There is high turnover, but that is expected. WHat is interesting is that almost everyone finds reasons to stay longer than planned once they have been here. I was supposed to leave this morning, but the Asheville group couldn't bring themselves to do it.

Something magical is being born here.

I haven't meet anyone from the "Iconoclast" newspaper yet. (Or maybe I have, but I didn't know who they were.

16. I thought it was magical too
I am glad you got to stay.

And Joan Baez rocks! She was a big part of our anti-war efforts during Vietnam. I am so jealous you got to hear her.

I am traveling with Rebbecca Mac Neice, an award-winning videographer. She was material that will blow your socks off.

On the trip home I will see if I can get permossion to post some of work on my site.

12. Hmmm... let me think
She opened with a song about how much she loved America and how all nations are underneath the same blue sky.

She also sang:

Swing Low Sweet Chariot.
Joe Hill
Where Have All the Flowers Gone.
Amazing Grace.

There are more, but I don't remember the titles.

Gah! I am asking around for a better play-list and people are looking at me with blank stares when it comes to song titles.

15. No prob. My pleasure.
It's so wonderful to be able to share with you a fraction of what is happening here.

The owner of the laptop is done with it for the evening. I've been able to update my own site. :D

By the way: Right now I can see Jeff Miller perform his one-act play "Eyes of Babylon" at the front of the stage.

Ha Ha!

Keep sending us reports. Is there anything more needed at Camp Casey that DUers can provide?

14. Yes, they changed it.
I got another picture of them changing the spelling. It wasn't until the end of the day that they figured out that the entire bloggosphere was laughing at them.

I have other pics and audio of them making asshats of themselves. When I get home I'll post them for y'all.

What tremendous pressure, having all of the internets aware of their errors!

I had to leave while Joan Baez was performing unfortunately. We'd driven up with a couple of teenagers and this was a school night. Oh well... taking a couple of fifteen year-olds to their first peace rally: PRICELESS!

It was a great day overall. Another friend of ours who came up from Austin couldn't believe how many people were still making the trek to Crawford even though Cindy Sheehan wasn't there.

On edit: a couple more of Joan's songs:
Last night I had the strangest dream
Blessed Are

23. Reminds me of the protests of the 60's. The Diggers? anyone remember?
In San Francisco, The Diggers made bread--huge amounts to feed many, many people.

ALso this reminds me of The Port Chicago vigil that went on for years during the Vietnam war. Protesters tried to block the shipments of arms to Viet Nam from Port Chicago on Suisun Bay, a branch of San Francisco Bay.
