Joan Baez plays concert for Camp Casey
Sunday 21 August 2005
9:25 PM
Earlier today, Shawn Mullins rocked the camp with Dylan's "Matters of War" and tonight Joan Baez brought the camp to tears and filled everyone with hope. We heard again from Cindy, her mom is doing much better and she is making arrangements to return.

Hundreds were here in 99 degree heat on this Sunday. The camp continues to grow. Each day something happens that makes me wonder how it can be topped. Joan Baez is going be tough to top but I have a feeling it won't be long before a new highlight will emerge only to be replaced by another.

3. Good for Joanie!! She's tops
Edited on Sun Aug-21-05 09:55 PM by ailsagirl
(it's "Masters of War," not "Matters...")
(unless Dylan's got two songs with nearly identical titles)

A powerful song-- still bites

:)

10. Their lead singer was sick last week and missed one or two
concerts. He made it to the Dallas concert (OMG it was so good)
and they were headed to San Antonio. They are AWFULLY close
to Crawford but tours are difficult and he's been sick.

11. Her Voice Sounded Really Good on the News
Fucking-Tony-SNOWjob said yesterday to the news-reader who said BAEZ would be doing this, "Why am I not surprised." a-hole.

14. So this is what one does with a degree in philosopy:
"Snow earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina." Become a Faux "News" hack.

23. That's my understanding. Quite the "tony"...
liberal arts institution. Do any of these right-wing blowhards actually have degrees in journalism? Communications? Anything semi-related?!

12. Great report!
I'm glad Mrs. Sheehan's mother is doing a lot better! Sounds like things are going so well. Georgie is going down! I hope there is a video of the concert soon. I'm so thankful for the internet and that it's around so we can all know about this and have documentation of this someday to share with future generations. God bless Al Gore!

15. AP article: Baez Performs Near Crawford War Protest
Baez Performs Near Crawford War Protest
CRAWFORD, Texas - "In the first march I went to (opposing Vietnam) there were 10 of us. This is huge," Baez told relatives of fallen U.S. soldiers Sunday as she prepared to perform a free evening concert in Bush's adopted hometown.

The concert was expected to draw more than 1,000 people to a 1-acre lot offered by a landowner who opposes the war. Not far away, protesters continued a camp-out started by grieving mother Cindy Sheehan.
