my girlfriend's comment on the CNN special...
She asked after it ended, "What was that watered down piece of shit, anyway?"

Generally, I don't get the impression that she's very politically aware, but I got a chuckle out of that particularly since it echoed my own feelings on it.

Apart from that comment (which didn't go into any depth) it did seem that overall it left the impression that things were "mistakes" and "negligence" instead of malice.

2. I think rather than being "watered down" that it left things open...
allowing the viewer to connect the dots.

For example:

The part where they talk about the Niger uranium and don't mention Wilson.

It is an elephant in the room. No one wants to talk about it, but everyone knows its there.

Sometimes allowing people to draw their own conclusions can be much more powerful then making conclusions for them.

6. could be, but it seemed to be leading elsewhere
That is, the facts were cherrypicked so as to leave the impression of negligence instead of malice. It's subjective, of course, but there is just no objective standard at all for this.

3. So they're a bunch of Idiots in
charge instead of a bunch of lying, thieving, murdering jackals?

7. She's not politically aware?
Obviously she viewed it skeptically. And she is aware of what was left out.

The fact that you consider he "not politically aware" is a positive sign, that decent people who haven't been following this crap as closely as we DUers have been are enlightened as to what's really going on.

8. Ummm, I think CNN went as far as they could.....
It could have always been better, but this is the corporate media owned by the right wing you're talking about. I doubt it was going to get any more bold than this, and it was pretty bold, changed alot of people against the war lies.....

10. I'm surprised you havn't gotten around to talking about
what you think, however, since she has revealed herself to you, I think you ought to develop this relationship. Physical attraction is necessary but you really need the mind blend to make it cool.

11. I have discussed it some. She finds it very troubling.
It's not possible to have a rational conversation after I get into a certain level of malfeasance or detail.

I get screamed at if I accidentally mention things that are "too bad" or otherwise "too scary."

15. I know what you mean. I have the same problem with my
relatives. The concept that our nation has sunk to this level under Bush is really hard for them to accept.

13. It's an odd hogwash
of "intelligence mistakes" and "intelligence fixed around the policy".

14. nothing really "new" in it
for those of us that have been paying attention....

the main focus was on blaming the CIA, and how the CIA is a mess

it did "hint" around the edges about data being manipulated to justify the selling of the invasion
