Local LttE Apologizes for Twice Voting for Shrub
I'm with the consensus here that these jerks get no sympathy, and while this is in a very Blue area, it's in one of the Reddest of states.

So he was thinking about Iraq the first time around? Plus, his rationale about "plenty of gasoline" means he is O.K. with THEFT. And his whining that the price has doubled means he has NO interest beyond SELF interest. As for the "priestcraft" thing, Shrub was advertising he was going to do that the first time around---did this dude just think it was blather? It all doesn't wash.

Apology for voting for Bush--both times

To the editor:

I voted for President(sic) Bush both times. I regret doing so for the following reasons:

a) Bush and Cheney are oilmen. I convinced myself that one of the benefits of invading and controlling Iraq was going to be plenty of gasoline to go around. Instead, the price of gas has more than doubled.

b) Bush has done great damage to the healthy and necessary concept of separation of church and state by elevating the priestcraft.

There are more reasons, but the above two suffice. The guy believes in ghosts and he believes in hogging the oil profits for his friends and himself.

I apologize.

16. I saw one: "We (heart) our President Bush!" when I was headed
to our Cindy vigil. I was awaiting the Freeper-esque disruptors. I guess that BOTH of them opted out.

4. What a doofus. Sorry, but this is one troglodyte I won't
be welcoming to the other side.

So, killing hundreds of thousands of people unnecessarily never factors into his equation?

:grr:

6. I don't think Dems have the luxury of turning away
former Republicans in future elections.

Otherwise the Republicans will stay in power and continue their wars. Do you want to be drafted to fight in Iran? or Syria? or North Korea? or China?

9. Who says he won't vote Republican?
The blinkered idiot only said he doesn't like Bush. Happily for him, Dubya won't be on any more ballots during his lifetime.

12. You are right that he may still vote for another Republican
Nancy Pelosi made an excellent point when she said that the Dems must destroy the Republican "brand."

I can remember many years ago when a lot of people wouldn't vote for Republicans because they said the Repubs were against the working man.

Reagan got people to vote Repub by destroying the Dem brand. I realized exactly what he was doing, but unfortunately I didn't know how to persuade people that he was manipulating them to vote against their own economic interests. Reagan persuaded former Dems that their party was the party of the Welfare Queens and that the Repubs were the party of the working man. Now look where the working man is: dying labor unions and falling wages because of competition from illegal immigrants who are afraid to speak up for better working conditions.

Now we have to get the truth out: The Repubs are the party of the corporations not the average person.

13. right - we have to be the BIG TENT
as much as we hate it - in order to save our democracy we have to forgive all the idiots...er....former-Bush-voters and make sure we educate them.

Behind the smile we can just grind our teeth and say we're doing for the better good!

a gallon gasoline, you know if this guy and others like him were paying that price they'de be waving giant flags and rah rahing that them fuckin ragheads in Iran were next.
Fuck former pukes, lets concentrate on the 100 million plus people who couldn't bother to vote, that's where our future lies, there's enough apathetic people out there to make both the democratic and pukes the minority.

18. We gladly welcome his vote in future elections
I don't care if he's a troglodyte or Judge Freaking Reinhold (old Simpsons joke), I'll take his vote. Maybe over the course of time, he'll understand what is repugnant about his statement about the "benefits" of invading and controlling Iraq.

In the meantime, he can vote Democratic for the rest of his life as penance.
