UTAH RAVERS TREATED LIKE TERRORISTS! EVOL INTENT'S ACCOUNT OF THE INCIDENT!

Last night, I was booked to play an event about an hour outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. The hype behind this show was huge, they presold 700 tickets and they expected up to 3,000 people total. The promoters did an amazing job with the show.. they even made slipmats with the flyers on them to promote in local shops.

So, we got to the show around 11:15 or so and it was really cool. It was all outdoors, in a valley surrounded by huge mountains. They had an amazing light show flashing on to a mountain behind the site, the sound was booming, the crowd was about 1500 people thick and everything just seemed too good to be true really. Well...

At about 11:30 or so, I was standing behind the stage talking with someone when I noticed a helicopter pulling over one of the mountain tops. I jokingly said "Oh look, here comes big brother" to the person I was with. I wasn't far off.

The helicopter dipped lower and lower and started shining its lights on the crowd. I was kind of in awe and just sat and watched this thing circle us for a minute. As I looked back towards the crowd I saw a guy dressed in camoflauge walking by, toting an assault rifle. At this point, everyone was fully aware of what was going on . A few "troops" rushed the stage and cut the sound off and started yelling that everyone "get the fuck out of here or go to jail". This is where it got really sticky.

get this! :

This event was 100% legal. They had every permit the city told them they needed. They had a 2 MILLION DOLLAR insurance policy for the event. They had liscenced security guards at the gates confiscating any alcohol or drugs found upon entry (yes, they searched every car on the way in). Oh, I suppose I should mention that they arrested all the security guards for possession.

fighting back can be a life saving option

1. Under the RAVE Act, having the right permits doesn't matter...
Authorities can raid anyplace they feel is a "drug-induced premises," according to the 2002 federal law. Although I believe the law to be a direct violation of the 4th Amendment, it hasn't been tested at the Supreme Court. Yet. Maybe this could be the case.

3. "drug-induced premises"
Wouldn't that mean that the premises didn't really exist? Maybe it should have been drug-infused premises...

7. Sorry. I meant "drug-involved premises"...
quoting the exact wording of the law, there. Drug-induced, no doubt, was a Freudian slip :)

11. What's the definition of a "Rave" under the federal law?
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 02:14 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
Is there one, or is the only guide the suspicion that a gathering, whether outside or inside is a "drug-involved premises"?

Can it constitute any concert where young people gather to have fun? Can it constitute a political rally where music performers appear? Is the definition under the law broad enough to potentially allow the suppression of any gathering or meeting on the chance that someone there might possess drugs?

And is there a warrant required based on probable cause, to be signed by a judge, or are the police allowed to make up their own capricious reasons for suspecting the presence of drugs?

5. Why aren't their names (promoters, DJs, bands, etc.) in this story?
Edited on Mon Aug-22-05 01:20 PM by HereSince1628
They had a city permit from what city an hour outside Salt Lake?
What were the names of the promoters?
What was the name of the security company that had all its guards arrested?

This is a creepy fascist story, but is it true?

8. The security guards who were confiscating the incoming drugs
were charged with possession because they were doing their jobs?

Bizarro world.

13. A "drug party"? Huh?
Why did they refer to it as a "drug party"? Was it a concert or a "drug party"? I don't understand.
