You know; He may actually resign. |
|
With the Dead Wrong thing it got me thinking. I believe it really may happen. He may cite health reasons. Or family. I don't think that would be that far-fetched. Just like him to cut and run; don't you think?

heck can't quit his job.
However, someone may incapacitate him to the point of him needing to step down.

he has not one drop of responsible blood flowing through his body. Not one pinch of empathy, and not one cell willing to admit failure or even a mistake.
It is more than inconceivable for him to resign, it is as certain as death, taxes and the loss of womens' rights in Iraq.

Still, he's got some powerful friends and they're going to circle the wagons. I don't think they've begun to fight yet.
We've all seen enough of his cowardice in action. But I don't expect a resignation. Cheney wouldn't hear of it.

You misunderestimate your foe. Quote me. I would love to be wrong. Nixon is a paragon of virtue (I think he had a redeeming quality) this "president" has narry a one except for his tenacity at holding on doing the wrong thing over and over and over and it not hurting him one iota. Poll numbers hah! Elections hah! He just has it fixed like he has had everything fixed his whole life. Beware the Emperor.

18. Why would he do that? |
|
He faces no more elections.
He'll never be impeached. He's already committed every crime in the book and republican congress won't touch him.
Why would he resign?
What would be the point?

Are you that sure that Dems won't retake the House in 2006? If they look like they are ready to, him resigning might be just the thing they do in order to prevent an impeachment and turning over the reins to Nancy Pelosi and giving them to Hastert instead if done before the election. Then Hastert could pardon them both also before 2006 congress would go in session too to keep them from getting prosecuted later, even if they were out of office.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I think that Democratic wins are a thing of the past. The Republicans are IN TO STAY!!UNTIL ELECTRONIC VOTING IS ACCOUNTABLE!!! Rove and Cheney can have the numbers fudged no matter where they are-even from prison(a dream) I bet!!

certainly bail also, as will Condi, Rumsfield, etc. None of these chickenhawks are about to take the fall just because Bush quits, which by the way I think it's possible he might because of his history of "when the going gets tough, I'm outta here".

from the Oval Office, grasping and clawing at the Presidential Seal on the carpet until his fingernails bleed--crying, spitting, and shouting profanities at his FBI captors until finally he has to be pepper-sprayed to get him to shut up.
But resignation? No way.

Johnson used to lie in darkened rooms for days with crippling migraines and waves of self-persecution over his Vietnam follies. He didn't resign.
Nixon used to medicate himself with alcohol and rage against the injustice of his plight, leaving day to day operations to subordinates like Haig. He didn't resign until the possibility of his incarceration became all too real.
Dubya's more willful and sociopathic than either of them. I'd reeeeally be surprised if he ever resigned.

25. I can see the complete destruction of the repuke party |
|
It's not that hard too do, Unless they do something very drastic there is a very real danger of people coming for them. We are rapidly reaching a point where you fall on one side or the other, it looks to me that finally the weight of the hubris and arrogance these people have, plus our efforts, may just be collapsing the regime. I can see international chatges of war crimes against the moran*,crashcart, and the whole gang. They aren't going to have power forever, w* true to form has fucked up one more thing. He has 30-40 years left in his miserable hide, I'd like to see some of them spent at the Hague.

... it's just not in his character--it would require some reflection on his part about events. He just doesn't do that. It would require him to admit error. He just doesn't do that. It would require him to acknowledge that the country's benefit is greater than his own. He doesn't believe that's true.
My guess is that, instead, he will press on with his agenda for the rich--flat tax, SS destruction, maybe yet another war, hoping that will give his polls a boost (predictable, because it has done so in the past), and, most of all, he will continue to smirk and smart-ass his way through stage-managed public appearances which are designed as much to boost his ego as they are to propagandize the public via the media.
George W. Bush is the most important thing in the world to George W. Bush. People like that never bend, never adjust, never contemplate, never give up. He has more power than anyone in the country, in his view, and he thinks that is what he deserves. He's not about to give that up.
Cheers.
