Sibel Edmonds article in Vanity Fair--anyone unable to find this issue? |
|
I have spent the last 2 weeks looking for it so I didn't have to sit at my computer and read it on-line. August issue sitting on the shelf up to the last days before the September issue came out. When the Sept. issue hit the stands, it vanished! I mean, I couldn't find a single one. Finally found one at B&N tonight. The sales rep remarked they had just received this issue with 2 others today and I was buying the last one. She said she couldn't figure it out.
Hope it wasn't the Jennifer Aniston interview, but man, one has to wonder why it disappeared so quickly. Anyone else have trouble finding it?

I've heard this from a lot of people. I just think it's a very popular magazine with a very gutsy editor - Graydon Carter - who HATES this administration and has been screaming about the Iraqi invasion from the beginning.
Subscribe. It's really cheap and well worth it.

3. Every month I had to scrounge to find a copy so I gave up and |
|
purchased a subscription ($15 for 12 issues). Believe me - it is worth every penny. Each month there are in depth articles about a variety of subjects. In all honesty I haven't gotten around to reading about Jennifer Aniston in the September issue but other articles are stellar. Be sure and not miss Michael Wolff's "All Roads Lead to Rove", David Rose's "An Inconvenient Patriot" (about Sibel Edmonds) and Michael Bronner's "The Recruiters' War."
Skip Christopher Hitchens' rambling, incoherent screed "My Red-State Odyssey." I'm betting he was two, four, six, hell, maybe ten sheets to the wind when he tried to write it. I tried several times to get through the mess but finally gave up. Too bad the editor didn't pull it when he had the chance.
If the magazine would pull the endless ads and the gossip column by Dominick Dunne it would be a much stronger magazine. Of course, it would then cost $10.00 an issue!

6. First thing I do when it arrives |
|
is rip out all those friggin' perfume sample pages and the epic Ralph Lauren (or whoever's doing it that month) heavy pages of advertising, and then it's a nice, readable magazine.
It's one of the few periodicals I read cover to cover - yes, even Hitchens and Dunne - on the day it arrives. Their art world coverage is also quite wonderful.
The renewals are even cheaper when you pick up a two-year deal. It's a real bargain, isn't it?

9. I've never read it before now. |
|
Had NO IDEA what was in between the 100s of pages of ads. That article on military recruiters is really scary.
The Edmonds article is leading me more and more to believe the MIHOP theory about 9/11. Why? Because I had no idea just how big the cover-up was at the FBI. After seeing what happened at the CIA this week on CNN's Dead Wrong, I'm understanding there was an intelligence failure...but the failure sure seemed to have a purpose. Way too many people involved for this to be just one or two spies in the group.
The whole time I was reading about Edmonds's and the other agents' ordeals I kept thinking, "WHAT in God's name is so huge that they are hiding this?".

5. I got two copies, but I had to go to two different stores... |
|
The first one I went to had only one copy. The second one I went to had two copies left, but one was being read by someone else so I grabbed the remaining one that was left on the shelf. I really wonder what kind of sales numbers they had. I have to believe they picked up quite a few more newer people like myself buying copies that don't normally buy it.

11. I think it was the Jennifer Aniston interview |
|
I called my GF to tell her it came out and she said "Pick that up for me will you?" It's the first time she's been interviewed since she and Brad Pitt separated I guess. I know it seems shallow compared to other things going on in the world but I think people are really curious.
