Just an FYI... I'm a dem and I had a stillborn son. I also spent a fair amount of time "cuddling the fetus" before turning him over to a funeral home.

You were just supposed to turn the other way, like the whole mess was just some sort of bad dream. Things are different now.

The vast majority of parents who have stillborn children have photographs and other momentos. The vast majority have also held, cuddled and said goodbye to their child.

When you bury a stillborn child (or a child who dies shortly after birth), you are not only burying that individual... you are burying all your dreams and hopes for that child. It is one of the most traumatic experiences a family can have.

Losing a child is the equivalent of someone blowing a hole through your heart. With time those raw, ragged edges heal. The hole, however, never closes.

Look, am not a heartless person..shit! I gave up many of my years and tears in fighting for the rights of children in the SpEd public school system, working to save some of them from literal death at their parent's hand. Am sorry they lost a child...I did, too..held her in my arms when she was just 25 weeks along in gestation...I could see myself in her tiny face.

Santorum is one of the big time MF'ers...I know the sorrow of losing a child, but he has no sympathy from me due to the fucking monkeywrenches he has deliberately thrown into keeping * and the GOP afloat.

It was almost 20 years ago. I still wonder what her life, my life would have be at this point in time. As it was, I did not end up with the father, who I left because I learned about alcoholism, (something I was completly naive about up until then), and his family that suffers still from that...
Anyway...I still think of her...she was an innocent.

hospital form. Because that's exactly what it was. At 20 weeks, the fetus is a full *month* away from being remotely viable. The eyes are still fused shut, like a newborn kitten, and will be for another 4 weeks or so. The surface, which will become skin, is still very thin and gelatinous, and not compatible with life outside the uterus. Obviously, the lungs are also weeks away from being capable of function. Etc., etc., etc.
It WAS a fetus, Rick. Repeat after me - FETUS, FETUS, FETUS.
