U.S. Christian Leader Calls for the Assassination of Venezuelan President

Tuesday, Aug 23, 2005

<snip> "Robertson accused Chavez of destroying the Venezuelan economy, which grew 17% in 2004, and is expected to grow double digits again in 2005. "He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he's going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent," he said. Politically-motivated capital flight, lock-outs, strikes, and a coup attempt, caused the Venezuelan economy to contract in 2002 and 2003. The economy later recovered in 2004 after Chavez regained control of the state-owned oil company, and Venezuelans went to the polls exercising

their right to demand the recall of the President". <snip>

edit: another Venezuelan headline here. I like the quotaion marks around "Christian"

4. It's all the same when you're trying to scare people into blind obedience.
Robertson was right there when Falwell said God allowed the 9/11 attacks to happen, so you might as well add God to the list, too.

2. shut his mouth up.........

If he continues to jump the wall of separation between church and state then his phony religious organization should lose its non-profit tax exemption.

3. Robertson should be appointed to a high position
by the President. He sounds like he'd fit in very well.
</sarcasm>

Seriously, how can ANYBODY say anything about Islamic fundamentalists being over the top, when we've got a moron like this shooting his mouth off so irresponsibly?

Fools like this are RUINING the US's image. What's left of it.

7. You don't think he hasn't already been appointed?
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 10:40 AM by BrotherBuzz
Maybe he has one of those 'Super Double Secret Background' appointments and he's been tasked to vilify the enemy and soften up the fundy base to the idea of attacking/invading Venezuela? It sure sounds like he's doing Bush*, Rice, and Rummies bidding to me, and this Robertson ass is saying all this crap because, because as much as Bush* et al wants to, they can't (at least for now!).

5. So, if the president of a country is bad for that country's economy
, then Robertson suggests that person should be assasinated?

Does he realize what he is saying.....I mean, aren't there laws out there...considering the breadth of that statement...I mean, ya know what I mean?

14. i'm not hispanic, and
I'M outraged!!

He is advocating, and inciting terrorism in it's clearest definition:

The State Department defines terrorism as "premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience."

ACCOUNTABILITY anyone??

11. I guess Chavez destroyed the economy that would have
benefited American interests. Too bad. What an idiot. We really need to enforce the separation of church and state laws with these southern good old boys. (Before southerners get upset with me, I am not talking about the majority of southerners, but the good old boys, especially those who talk to Jays-us.)

I feel bad for most real Christians whose image are tarnished by the likes of him, that triple chinned moron Jerry Falwell, and the new messiah, the Rev. Moon.

12. Robertson cited the Monroe Doctrine as an excuse for interfering
in Venezuela?

I was taught in school, lo these many years ago, that the Monroe Doctrine claimed a sphere of influence that placed all the Americas under the protection of the US against Old World colonial aspirations. It made no claim upon the other American countries themselves, but only insisted on the right of the US to intervene militarily if European colonial powers tried to establish themslves in this hemisphere. We wouldn't interfere with existing colonies, but if those colonies rebelled we would protect the rebels against being re-colonized.

His historical scholarship is on a par with his religious scholarship.

Putz.

13. Like Bush, he hears voices and talks to imaginary friends.
It would be irrational to expect any sane action or speech from them.

16. Robertson has really lost it now
He was crying for vacancies on the Supreme Court too. Perhaps he will have to review the Commandments, especially one that says, "Thou shalt not Kill".

On another board where I sometimes post there was a Venezuelian who hated Chavez and the rest of the righties all felt the same. Here I was all alone wondering why I see Chavez as someone good for Venezuela and the opposite of our terrible regime here. Robertson just made me sure of myself.
:freak:
