Freeper Madness: Clinton Deferred the 911 attacks KNOWING they'd |
|
happen under Bush's watch.
So, there ya go! Mystery solved. It's all Bill's fault.
"To: pabianice; All
Does anyone really think that the Clinton Administration didn't know what was coming down the pike? Looking at evidence, past and present, it sure looks like they staved off a 9/11-like attack with as little effort as possible, while knowing the results of their ineptitude would happen on someone else's watch..."

3. Fine. Then let's just re-open the 9/11 investigation to find out. |
|
Let's REALLY investigate this time, with an independent counsel who's been granted unlimited subpoena power.
I'm not afraid of what they'll find -- are they?

13. If you think they're scared now, just wait until the CIA IG report |
|
appears - particularly the (nearly immediate) leaks of the classified annexs.
The revelations about how the CIA has been running an illegal domestic survelliance operation against al-Qaeda since the 1990s, and how the incumbent idiot in the WH shut down surveillance WITHOUT ROLLING UP THE CELLS is going to make for some scary reading.

Does anyone really think that the bush Administration didn't know what was coming down the pike? Looking at the evidence, past and present, it sure looks like they did and did nothing to stop 9/11 from happening, knowing the results of their ineptitude would shore up their popularity politically and advance their agenda to dominate the world's resources.

I mean, there are lots of conspiracies about 9-11, but Dubya's administration thinking this would give him the popularity and "mandate" he wanted to do what he wanted makes a lot of sense.

10. In a sense, they're right. Clinton DID know what was coming |
|
down the pike...which is why the first thing they did was to alert bushco to the danger. It's not Bill's fault that "the adults" knew better and chose to ignore their warnings.
Sidebar: one of my pet theories about the whole thing is that bushco saw the bin Ladens as business partners. They felt that rather than taking a stance a la Clinton of "we're gonna get ya," they'd take the stance of "let's control these guys by working with them...giving them enough graft to keep them happy and push them to become allies in the ME. After all, Osama hates Saddam, and he's #1 on our hit list."
That led to the LIHOP attacks, attacks that bushco thought would be something in the "traditional" sense (ie: hijack an airliner, fly it to the Mohave and blow it up), ie: something they could turn to their advantage, either by diffusing the situation or pulling off a Rambo-style rescue mission. When my CT hat is on REALLY tight, I wonder if Barbara Olsen was a plant on one of those planes to provide an inside account of bushco's heroism. But I digress...
Unfortunately, Osama had other plans and outwitted his half-witted enablers...and the rest is history.

11. Yeah, all Clinton did was . . . |
|
Yeah, those dirty Democrats! All Clinton did was identify, arrest and convict terrorists such as Sheikh Abdel-Rahman and Timothy McVeigh, stop the millennium attacks, and lay out chapter and verse for the incoming Republicans how they had done it, and what to do to continue thwarting terrorists.
Of course, once terrorists got a chance to size up the Texas Frat Boy and his relative competence (using such incidents as the Chinese capture of a spy plane and the joy-riding submarine that killed those Japanese fishermen), they pretty much knew they had a clear field to operate.

14. Well, duh, he couldn't just STAY in office and take care of it? |
|
Like that would have happened...what did they want him to do? He and his people (Albright, Beers, O'Neil and many others) told Bush and Condi that this would be their number one security problem, but nooooo Bush and Condi were sooo hung up on Russia and Star Wars, THEY tabled BinLaden and Al Quada, so what do those fools want? Their guy said it wasn't important...

17. Maybe if they'd concentrate on PNAC instead of P-NIS ... |
|
... they'd know why 9/11 happened. And that it had nothing to do with Bill Clinton. Or his penis.

I'll tell you what is Clinton's fault: Bush's low poll ratings.
When people compare this president to Clinton, Bush's ratings sink lower and lower. There's just no comparison, and Republicans can't stand it.
By the way, we know why no WMDs were found in Iraq; Clinton got there ahead of time and hid them.

this into Clinton's fault. It's so easy when you play to the lowest common denominator.
I hope this doesn't impact the 06 election cycle.

Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 11:52 AM by NYC Liberal
Bush KNEW something was up. Ashcroft and a few others even stopped flying commercial airlines in July 01. He did NOTHING in 8 months to help combat terrorism. Nothing at all.
Besides, how did Clinton "stave off" the attack, but only for about a year? Did he call up bin Laden and ask him nicely? And how did he know Bush would be in the WH in 2001?
Plus the attack let him invade not one but TWO countries one of which every neo-con around him had wanted to for 10+ years, Iraq. They'd been saying for that long that only a Pearl Harbor-type attack would justify it. And, lo, 9 months after those very same people came BACK into power, that very attack materializes. Funny how that works.

Clinton was busy micro-managing the FBI and military intelligence in 2000.
Sibel Edmonds emphasizes that certain people in the Pentagon and in the State Dept that in some cases have been there since at least 1997 are involved in criminal activities though, related to 9/11. These were joined by Bush administration political appointees. Indira Singh ditto.
